Petra drummed her fingers on the table, frowning at Mike who sat beside her. He’d come to her after class asking if she could help him get caught up on the last two lectures he missed and she’d been more than willing to help. That is, of course, until they got to the library and all Mike did was text the day away while she tried explaining what they were currently learning.
“Mike!” she shouted in frustration. “Look, I don’t mind helping you study, but could you just, you know, pay attention?” Then she paused, noticing that the phone in his hands was a familiar shade of purple. “Wait a second – is that my phone?”
Mike didn’t bother looking up. “Nope,” he denied weakly. Petra reached for the device but he held it high above her head, not even trying to hide his smugness. “I’m just playing a game.”
But she wasted no time jabbing him in the ribs and making a grab for the phone when his arm fell. She turned on the screen and pursed her lips, clearly unamused by what she saw.
“‘I want you to—’” She coughed. “‘—on my—’” Petra inhaled sharply and hit Mike a second time. “Why are you sexting Levi?”
“He started it?”
Petra scrolled through the conversation and determined that, yes, Levi, did indeed start it with a not too subtle “what are you wearing?” Well, that was better than a dick pic, she supposed. And as she went through the rest of the messages, she found herself even a little impressed by his creativity.
She wasn’t even mad. The entire situation was much too awkward and hilarious for her to be mad. She couldn’t wait to tell Hanji about it, really. Who knew Mike would be so good at telling Levi about all the things he wanted to do to him with a silk scarf, some Nutella, and a string of pearls?
Although he did have a few flaws to his style, Petra thought. “Mike, you need to work on your dirty talk,” Petra said, still frowning at what were apparently her responses.
Mike had the grace to look offended. “Excuse you?”
“You said ‘oh, and then what?’ five times. Like you’re not even remotely sexy.”
“I’m super sexy.”
“Not—”
Her phone vibrated as a new text arrived and Mike quickly grabbed it, opening the message and smirking. He looked thoughtful for a brief moment before he began typing away eagerly.
“You’re enjoying this too much.”
“It’s funny.”
“It’s weird.”
“Still funny.”
“And creepy.”
“Funny!”

Across campus, Levi was browsing through imgur under the guise of writing a paper while Hanji was eagerly texting someone, not even pretending to be working. He didn’t really care what Hanji did as long as it didn’t affect him, but when he reached into his bag and found his phone missing, he could only curse under his breath and glare at his study partner.
“What the fuck are you doing with my phone, Hanji?”
Hanji just laughed and continued typing away. “Shush, don’t ask questions.”
