Who had the legendary court jeweler Bolin incorporate them in the spectacular diadem we know now. Later, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna (the younger) who inherited the piece, sold it to the Yugoslavian royal family in order to fulfill an embroidery order for Chanel. They in turn left it with van Cleef & Arpels for a loan. They acquired the diadem in the 1950s and sold off the legendary emeralds and replaced them with synthetic stones.
