Jet’s Origins
Character List Master AU List
Jet gets mad about political things so just a warning! (Though I watered it down a lot.)
“Reports are coming in that since Prince Charging’s incident downtown several months ago, more and more people with abilities are coming out and trying to be superheroes! This is ridiculous, they’re foolish children and–”
And Jet really, really didn’t care. He shut off the news and threw the remote onto the couch as he rolled his eyes. Reaching down to grab the strap of his backpack, he practically raced toward the front door of the apartment. “I’m going out!” Jet called over his shoulder into the apartment before closing the door. It was more of a courtesy than anything. His parents didn’t care their child was leaving in the middle of the night and they certainly didn’t care enough to question why. He was an adult, and to them, that was a good enough excuse. Though, that didn’t excuse them before he hit the legal age just over two years ago. Jet quickly walked away from his apartment complex and down the street, a bit closer to downtown. He wasn’t too terribly far from the building he had been scoping out. The side of the old brick building was usually left unsupervised next to a quiet road, but a lot of morning traffic passed it during rush hour. By the time someone reports it and has it removed, it will at least be after the morning commute. Finally arriving at the building, he stuck his hand into his backpack and pulled out his gloves he wore when spray painting at night in a hurry. They were worn down and stained with paint from many unclaimed artworks that covered building and billboards over the years. After securing the backpack on him so it wouldn’t fall off, he took a few steps back before sprinting for the fire escape, jumping as high as he could and grabbed the bottom rung of the ladder. He quickly climbed up carefully and quietly before looking over and reaching the height they needed to be at. Jet placed down his backpack before pulling out a few cans of spray paint. He picked one up and started shaking it before looking at his canvas before him. This should take no time at all.

It didn’t make the news the next day. Not that he was expecting it to. The giant cartoon painting mocking the city government definitely wasn’t going to make the local news, though he couldn’t help but hope. Perhaps he’ll spray something over the billboard of the governor trying to ‘ban’ people with abilities just to ease his anger later that night. Because old, white men in office loved banning things people had no control over and blaming them for all their problems. Someone was sat on the couch staring blankly at the television so Jet decided to leave it on as he walked out. He emptied out his backpack of most of the cans of paint and left everything else, swinging it over his shoulder. He had no real destination in mind as he walked around, lost in thoughts and half paying attention to where he was. Scoping out possible hits in the future for his expressive art, Jet pulled out his phone and scrolled through his social media. He took a photo of his art last night as the sky started turning bright. It cost him a few hours of sleep but it was worth it. The photo from the roof one building over was glorious and people were already eating it up. “Hey!” Jet heard the voice and opted to ignore the commotion. “Hey, kid! With the weird braided hair!” He paused and closed his eyes before looking over at the man. “What, you deaf?” “If I was, would I have turned around?” Jet enjoyed the reaction of the man who started to turn red with anger. “There a problem?” “Yeah! You weren’t watching where you were going!” He pointed to the sidewalk where there were faint scribbles of chalk. “My daughter was drawing!” Jet paused and looked around, spotting a child playing with a toy over on the side, nowhere near where he was. The man saw him turn and look before their eyes met again. “I don’t even see any chalk? Besides, she’s over there and I’m walking down this very public street.” “What’s that?!” “I’m sorry, you deaf?” “Listen here, you little shit–” The ground shook with distant vibrations as a loud explosive noise rang out. Turning to look, they both spotted dark smoke began to peak out from above the nearby buildings. Jet gripped their phone and broke off into a sprint, ignoring the shouts of the man he was leaving behind. Jet honestly expected to meet more resistance running toward the havoc. A lot of people were running away, but as he got closer, there was a crowd that had begun to form. People standing in shock, their phones out and recording or taking pictures of everything going on around them. He pushed through to the front lines before spotting a man, or several versions of.
“It’s not safe, turn back!” The hero cried out. “We have this handled, please go somewhere safer while we handle it!” Spotting the cat ears and logo on his shirt, this could only have been Copy Cat. Jet peeked out over his shoulder and sure enough, Prince Charging had a bright blue electrical whip in his hands, shooting it out and attacking a man that was somehow throwing objects to block them. His white lab coat made him stick out, but Jet couldn’t recall seeing him much before. He had some sort of telekinetic power, throwing mailboxes and other objects in the way of Prince Charging’s attacks. “Move along!” Copy Cat stood in front of Jet’s view once more and smiled down at him.
“Don’t want you getting hurt, right?”
Jet raised an eyebrow before turning away, but not planning on backing down. He scooted along the sides and waited for Copy Cat to continue on with his crowd control duties before running a bit closer. “I simply wished to talk! Is this violence necessary?” The unknown super shouted. Prince Charging responded with another attack before backing off. “You attacked me first! How is that wanting to talk?” “I told you, that was a miscalculation on my part! An accident!” “Yet, you still haven’t apologized!” The other hero threw something in Prince’s direction, the whip of electricity catching it easily. He pivoted around, using the momentum to swing and toss the object back around before the electric whip let go. Prince Charging’s aim was perfect, but at the last moment, it shot to the side. The other hero’s eyes were shining bright gold as he mentally reached out and picked up something else. “Besides! I hear you cuffed Vigilante and tried interrogating him! Was that an accident, too, brainiac?!” The nerdy hero (villain?) launched more debris at the Prince before answering. “I’m surprised you two imbeciles can be civil enough to discuss anything! Besides, we have an… understanding right now.” The prince scoffed and ran forward, electricity at the ready. Jet had seen enough. He pulled the zippers down on his backpack and pulled out a spare spraypaint can. It was a pink or purple color by the stains on the nozzle before he glanced up at the fight. “If you two morons are gonna cause all this trouble just to flaunt your strength…” He stood up and pulled his arm back before launching the can into the fight. It landed with a loud rattle and close enough that both the supers glanced over and froze at the sight of the can. “I get one shot…” Jet held out his hand, focused it on the can, and squeezed it into a fist. “What on Earth-” Prince called out before the can exploded into a cloud of color. Magenta paint was everywhere and he was quick to cover his mouth to not breathe any in. “Super Moron and Prince Pompous!” The supers looked around but couldn’t see anything through the paint cloud. “You’re both pretty, now knock your shit! People have lives and you’re kind of being dicks! Try using your powers for something more useful!” The paint started to clear and they both looked around, but the mysterious source of the voice had vanished. “They were correct,” Prince Charging looked over at his adversary who began to cough and clear his throat. “This fighting is useless. If you don’t wish to talk then I shall be on my way.” “Wait, you’re not going anywhere!” “Prince!” The hero stopped and turned, looking as one of Copy Cat’s versions ran up to him. “Let him go, it’s not worth it. Besides, we need to soak your costume before the paint dries.” “Paint, what? OH NO, I’M PINK!” “Actually,” Copy Cat smirked. “I believe it’s technically magenta!”
— “They’re idiots.” Jet paced back and forth, gathering supplies strewn across his room. “They’re gonna give us supers a bad rep if they keep this up, those morons!” He tossed down his supplies; paint, gloves, old clothes from late night runs that have been stained with paint… Jet held up his hand and a swirl of paints and ink flew up from their bottles, dancing around his room in a myriad of colors. If he was gonna play in their game, then he had to look the part. Starting with the hair. Magenta was a good start. Maybe some blue or yellow as well. He fiddled with his bangs and ran his hand down to the two small braids that fell at his shoulders. “If these morons are gonna dick around, might as well make some good use out of it.” — Jet/Magenta Reference art
