Hawaii kitty!! This was what I did for our impressionism unit in art class!!
(More backstory and pictures below the cut!)
Definitely one of my favorite pieces, both in looks and process!!
As far as I remember, this was completely done with the palette knife (I think I had a couple of different sizes), and I loved using it. It’s been a while since I did it so I can’t explain what i liked about it, other than that it was easy and smooth to use, and most importantly, it was easy to clean XD I just remember I was pretty much ready to exclusively use it after that unit, haha!
Pros: I’m more proud of that gradient in the water + the palm trees than I am of most things in life XD I don’t think you can truly see the way the water fades from more of a green to a darker blue in a picture, but it does!
Cons: I remember I had some trouble with the clouds around the moon, that I had to keep redoing it because the paint was drying before I could adequately get the blend I wanted. I also had some trouble with the window itself too...which I think is somewhat obvious XD I just couldn’t get the shading right.
I don’t think this is a really a pro or a con, but I wanted to do one of each plumeria variant around the kitty, (white, pink-white, and pink). But the bright pink just drew your eye too much, so I had to make them all white. But I liked how it looked so I took a picture before I fixed it!!:
