There was a long pause before the reply. What Melody couldn’t know, of course, was that Heat was pacing back and forth and attempting to psych himself up for the big question.

Melody stared in confusion at the text before laughing out loud.

[text] I like yogurt, but that’s probably not what you wanna ask about! Wanna try that again?

[Text from Heat] Hey Melody? You got any free time in the next few days?

Melody excused herself from the rest of the family to go outside when she saw she had a text.

[text] I think I will have free time. How come? Is there something you want to do?

Quick only shook his head in response. “Just what Heat told us… That it was Sand.” He drew a deep breath before continuing, “Is Apis home? I want to talk to him.”

There was a look of disappointment on Oil’s face. He knew that was the case but he was hoping for some good news. “Of course he is. He’s been officially grounded to the house.” Oil said as he stepped aside. “He’s probably back in his room. Our guests left awhile ago.”

With Heat and Splash's confirmations of what had happened to Pump, it was impossible for Quick to deny that he had made friends with a monster. But with no way of fixing his mistake, all he could do was apologize to Apis for doubting him. That was how he ended up knocking at the front door and wondering how much Apis was going to insult him today.

Oil was the one that was downstairs, and he soon opened the door and glanced up to see Quick. “Any news of Pump?”

He hated himself. Which was fine, since he was coming to the conclusion that everyone else didn’t care about him or hated him too. That was the only thing Apis could think of as he sat on the floor of the station, drinking a bottle of beer that he had stolen from the liquor store him and Quick passed.

Perhaps he shouldn’t be drinking. Honestly he knew better. He had buckled down hard on Heat and disapproved Honey doing it. And yet here he was, being pathetic and following in their footsteps. A part of him was just hoping that he could drink enough to forget everything. 

Who cared if Pump was missing? Or that he had a crush on Harmony? Or that Quick was letting a twisted murderer in their safe haven? Who cared?

The bee wish he didn’t. But until the alcohol kicked in he would.

Celeste's phone was ringing. Once it was answered it would soon become clear that Splash was on the other end, and even more anxious than usual. "... Ce... Celeste? It's just me... Are you, um... i-is it okay if I come to visit for a little while...?"

“H-Hello? S-S-Sp-plash?” Though Celeste’s own stutter sounded like usual, she felt very suddenly worried for Splash. “...Y-Y-Y-Yeah, s-s-sure, b-but... we’re... not at the-the lab...”

[text] You won’t believe what happened recently!

“She needs you, Jewel.” The old seer said as he started pushing his friend towards the portal. Jewel couldn’t help but laugh.

“Okay okay! I’m going!” He turned to give Crystal a light shove. “Just wait for Gemmy already.”

“I’m here!” Called the short bot as he ran up to the other two. He gave a smile at them before Jewel set off through the portal. Crystal gave them a shout of good luck and before they knew it, both Gemini and Jewel were at the front door of the home.

Jewel was a bit nervous of course. He hoped Splash would really want to see him or that he could help her in some way. She wasn’t the same as the Splash he knew, but he still considered her a daughter in a way. It was nerve wrecking. Gemini on the other hand was even more nervous. From what he was told, the members of the group he traveled with were all in this little world, but they remembered him before his repair. He was going to screw up he just knew it.

“Maybe we should just-” Gemini turned to run off but was quickly grabbed by Jewel with one hand as he knocked onto the door with the other. “Unhand me!”
