Day 3 of Improvement Hell
by Ulises Aithon
Prompt:
Draw a figure that it is in action
So, talking with @polypharmakoss about Hera and Iris, here you have: 🌈 Iris, daughter of Thaumas! 🌈
And she comes with a little tale too!
Swift footed Iris thus turned towards Hera who was weaving a small mantle for her own daughter, divine Hebe "Hera, most divine of the goddesses, why have you summoned me?" Hera, the one with bovine eyes, slowly turned to the Titaness who had given birth to her and nursed her breasts in her mind with joy "Iris, of the goddesses of Olympus the most pleasant and sweet, go quickly to the mortals, to Dodona, always secretly vigilant against Boreas, the northern wind, see what Zeus the thundering is plotting now and tell me if you see if he is trapped by the cruel arrows of Eros, ill-born Aphrodites, go my love, quickly under the clouds and see what he is up to. Iris chrysopteryx, nodded as she descended with the gentle beating of her wings from the bright, high-roofed abodes of the Olympians, happy and eternal inhabitants, turning her back on the gentle Zephyr that fattens the fruit and the vine as the seasons turn, while the Pleiades were already beginning to rise in the east. When the goddess's shapely ankles touched the dark earth, she saw Zeus, Father of All but not hers, behind the magnificent oak with its upright leaves, his oracle, as he made the bronze bells tinkle, which sang like nightingales and swallows with their swaying. Thus spoke Zeus, the cloud-gatherer: "Mortals, dearest to me of all earthly beings, destiny is immutable, and therefore so is his will. I now tell you to keep these words well and avoid doing evil, in accordance with this will. Soon strangers will arrive, unfamiliar with gleaming bronze but fond of ugly iron; indeed, a thousand hosts will perish, and there will be no solace in the great battlements of the blameless Achaeans. But now, heed my wise words. From the west will come bearers of deadly keres, and from the back of Boreas misfortunes will descend in droves. You, flee swiftly to the mountains, and do not go to the barren islands. Here's my will, Danaans, sons of Helenus." Upon hearing these wise words, sorrow entered Iris, swift of foot, who hurried to the high-roofed dwellings of those who dwell on eternal Olympus. She removed her golden sandals in this manner, while Hera, with her white arms, tenderly nursed a newborn cuckoo, one of her own creatures. "Hera, Zeus has not been infused with desire into his chest by Eros, bringer of evils to mortals and gods alike, what moved him towards ill Dodona was but…" She was cut short by Hera, a slight smile appearing on her face, for the bitterness in her chest dissolved like a knot undone with a gentle tug on cloth. "What excellent news you bring, my daughter! What joy you bring me, daughter of Thaumas, Titan, what joy! Come, sit beside me, loyal and valiant counselor, and tell me in detail what you have heard in dreaded Dodona."
