--reads the top 3 things my muse looks for in an s/o post and laughs, because vaan is really only one of those things. and what i like about balvaan is vaan is not anything balthier is looking for. vaan is everything but. vaan challenges him. vaan is heedless. vaan is a stubborn foolish young dalmascan who always leaves sand in the bed even if he’s freshly washed, and eats too much spicy food to ever be a target for a spontaneous kiss on the lips. if balthier is telling a lie in a story vaan will call him on it. if balthier is funny, yes, vaan will laugh, and balthier adores it. but vaan won’t pretend he finds balthier funny or impressive if he’s not. and vaan won’t watch him across the table with sparkly eyes as balthier rattles on about his adventures, because by the time vaan takes to the skies hismelf, he’s got his own stories begging to be told on the tip of his tongue across that very table. i like balvaan because vaan is just--maddeningly irresistible to the sky pirate, is nothing that balthier ever was looking for. because well, truth be told, balthier isn’t looking for anyone. and then vaan just appears. and balthier thinks, “i’ve found you”, but he lies awake at night thinking, “how was i never aware i was searching to begin with?”
oh, i guess i lied. he’s two out of the three. he’s really good in bed, the chit.
