Elijah doesn’t really remember much of his childhood. At least that’s what he’ll tell anyone who questions him about said phase of his life. But even when human, Elijah was never much of a child. He was the eldest and therefore felt responsible for the younger ones. Niklaus and him would be the closest during this time, often pairing up to explore places and defending their siblings before their father. While Rebekah had him wrapped around her finger, often waking him up to make her a toy or tell her a tale, Kol was the best at demanding Elijah’s attention. Since the two were so close in age and, Rebekah being the only girl got plenty of attention - attention to spare - from their family, Elijah felt the need to compensate and therefore was always attentive to Kol’s needs. Henrik, the youngest, was adored by Elijah yet, without a doubt, it was Kol the one he babied the most when they were human.

Not one to roar when angry, Elijah’s display of such an emotion is usually a more sophisticated one. He does revenge well, but revenge is a dish best served cold. He has the cunning mind to execute elaborate vengeance and the patience to make it all fall into place so that everything goes according to plan. His anger sometimes triggers the impulsive instincts he so desperately tries to keep under control. In said cases, hearts are usually ripped. Or, if he’s feeling particularly sadist, a few macabre forms of torture may be included before the actual ripping of the heart.

Over the centuries, Elijah has had a handful of lovers, but he seems to have high standards in this matter. On very rare occasions does he get involved with someone just for the sake of getting involved with them - whether sexually or otherwise. He desperately seeks to feel connected to someone, to feel - in reality, he knows that loving Katerina in the 1400s reminded him of that, what it was to feel, and that that was not weakness, it was humanity. He seeks that again. Although it is a near impossible mission for him.
