Book Review: In 27 Days
Author: - Alison Gervais
Genre: - Paranormal
TW: Suicide, death.
If you are presented a deal to go back in time and save a person from dying, would you take it? Probably not. But that’s exactly what Hadley Jamison does.
A person named Death offers Hadley to back 27 days to save Archer Morales from committing suicide. And she agrees. Probably not the best choice but she does it anyway. Now how will she be able to achieve this? You’ll have to read the book to find out…
My thoughts: -
This book is one my underrated favourites. It had me hooked from the start. The drama in the book keeps on escalating; you will definitely be scared for life of both the characters. What I like about this book is that it concentrates on each and every character and shows how the events of the book affects them.
Plot: -
The plot is really cool. It deals with plenty of stuff, from the reasons of Archer needing a saving, decisions taken by Hadley to the consequences that she and others around her has to face because of those decisions. This book is definitely dramatic with lots of emotions and chaos that you will absolutely love it.
Characters: -
Our main character Hadley is the goddess of self-sacrifice. I mean she has to be right, considering she took the deal in the first place. She does things for Archer and his family without thinking about the consequences and I don’t know whether to love her for that or be infuriated. But that’s what makes her character unique in her own way.
On the other hand Archer, our boy who needs saving is one hell of a rude guy but that’s understandable considering the things he has dealt and has to continue dealing in his life. Despite all of the rudeness, he makes one complex character and definitely likable.
Another important character, Death, is one of my favourite characters in the book. You have to; he is the reason the story is happening in the first place. Also, he is just adorable.
So if you have a knack of finding underrated books you should check this one out. Though this books deals with sensitive issues like suicide, murder, death; so if you are not comfortable with that then it’s not the book for you. If paranormal is your taste, then you are good to go.
