While some American covens might as well have been a joke, European covens were nothing to joke about. Sizable in numbers and sometimes ancient in age, most anybody would not be keen to make the slightest offense against any of them. Even with the lesser known covens, it was best just not to risk it. So being captured by one, under ordinary circumstances, would be a rather serious situation.
But, Syde did not consider himself ordinary circumstances and did not consider his situation very serious either. Mostly it was an inconvenience. Hellhounds were much rarer in numbers these days, and lore of them had largely faded from the public mind. Older covens stood the greatest chance of being more knowledgeable about his kind, but it was clear that this coven, at least, still had some research to do - as though they had managed to capture him, they seemed to be taking a long time to figure out just what to do with him.
In the meantime, he had been left in an underground cell. Heavily chained. Ring of salt around the perimeter of the cell - which didn’t actually confine him so much as dull his power and make it just that much more effort to get out. Specialized bullet lodged in the back of his calf. The wound burned continuously, as his system couldn’t seem to push it out, so he could only assume the bullet had been blessed or something.
He sat against the wall, looking like an awfully ordinary young man for what he really was. And looking very bored, for that matter.
