       BEING ON EARTH TWO isn’t exactly the feeling he wants. Being married to Iris West was an old dream of his, but he can’t say it is anymore — not with Delilah in his life. And now seeing her — not her, but the Earth Two version of her, and she’s so DIFFERENT. The woman he knows is war hiding in a red dress, a gorgeous smile with sharp teeth at the ready; still, she was beautiful and kind underneath. This Lilah was a computer nerd, and didn’t say much at all, never even flirting. It was u n n e r v i n g, and yet he’s drawn to her all the same, entranced by her gorgeous eyes and perfect smile. Plus… he needs help, especially from someone who can compute data quickly. So he turns on the charm that Earth Two Barry definitely isn’t supposed to have, stopping by her desk with a grin.   “Hey, Lilah! Do you think you could do a F A V O R for me? As a secret?”

Delilah is sitting at her desk, typing away at her computer, glancing over her shoulder to make sure no one is watching while she tries to hack into some top secret files. Perhaps this isn’t the best place to do it, but if her IP address manages to get tracked, it’ll be a lot harder for them to pinpoint the exact computer - they’d just get the location - the Precinct. Nobody is going to question the cops too hard. She jumps out of her skin when she hears Barry’s voice, quickly closing her program & looking up at him. A huge smile appears on her face, but she can’t help it - that happens every time Barry Allen talks to her. Lilah has been crushing on him from afar for about as long as she’s known him - sadly, Iris West got there first. Still, that doesn’t change the way her heart flutters as she looks up at him. ‘ Hey Barry! Nice bowtie. ’ she compliments, shyly ducking her head & reaching up to push a loose strand of hair behind her ear, twiddling it around her finger unconsciously. ‘ Of course, whatever you need! I’m great at keeping secrets.What can I do for you? ’

BARRY.

     HE WASN’T EXPECTING LILAH to even be in the room to the side of the Cortex — Barry just wanted to run a little, work off some steam. And there she is, beauty and all, along with deeplashes running down her back. He can tell they aren’t fresh, but they still look so HORRIFIC, and it takes all that’s within him not to immediately demand who did this to her, so he can personally secure her justice. Instead, he just walks forward, careful not to spook her, and his gentle fingers trace along the deep mark. He feels her p a i n, right to his core, and it breaks his heart that she’s gone through this much to get to where she is. It’s tender for a moment, before she pulls away, and everything seems to snap back into real time, reality, and all it’s anguish with it. He blinks a few times, taking a step away from her and tucking his hands into his pockets.   “I’m sorry, I didn’t — I didn’t know you were in here, I just came in to run and clear my mind, I wasn’t trying to — ”  He sighs, staring down at his feet. God, now he just feels G U I L T Y, pushing her past a comfort level she wasn’t ready for. He always does this, and he pushes people away. He’s gotten used to everyone he cares about leaving him at one point, so he should have prepared for this moment.   “I just — you didn’t deserve to go through that, Lilah. I wish you didn’t have to, and I’m so sorry.”  He finally manages to look up at her, and it’s written all over his face how much he feels for her right now. And he takes a careful step closer to her, barely breathing.   “I’m sorry I pushed you. But you don’t have to h i d e from me. I will be here, for your beauty and your scars.”   Barry reaches for her again, not touching but simply holding out his hand, an offer that she doesn’t have to take.

Lilah isn’t sure she’s ever KNOWN this level of tenderness - it scares her. She doesn’t think she’s w o r t h y of that - especially not from Barry Allen, the purest & kindest person she’s ever had the pleasure of meeting. God, she knows she doesn’t deserve him - feels it in her very soul. But she can’t bring herself to walk away from him. Perhaps it’s selfish, but she cares for him so much more than she lets on. Even though she tries to keep the more intense feelings hidden, she’s certain he is aware of it - certain that he feels it too, on some deeper level that neither of them can put into words. She waves off his apology, a smile appearing more gentle than she thought she’s CAPABLE of being. ‘ Hey, it’s okay. You didn’t OVERSTEP or anything. Don’t worry. ’ it’s not about him. He’s PERFECT. But Lilah is damaged, & damaged people end up h u r t i n g others, even if they try not to. She’s never tried not to - but with Barry, she tries so damn hard. It would kill her to hurt him, even though that was the original intention of this. But this THING between them - it’s taken her by surprise, in the best way possible. Her expression falters a little, because now he’s apologizing for her pain - nobody has e v e r done that. The smile is back on her features quickly, though, as he reaches for her, & she takes his hand, interlocking their fingers & allowing herself to drift a step closer to him, looking up into his eyes & getting lost there for a moment before speaking. ‘ You don’t know how much that means to me. Really, I’m so thankful that I met you. Before you, my life was black & white...you filled my world with beautiful TECHNICOLORS. ’ she’s usually not the best at verbalizing her feelings, but the way her eyes shine when she looks at him reveals a lot more than she has in far too long. She gets up on her tiptoes, planting a soft kiss on his cheek. She hovers there for a moment before pulling back. ‘ Thank you for being here. I don’t think I’m worth it, but YOU DO. I’m sorry for hiding, it’s just...I don’t think I’ve ever known tenderness. This...US...it’s all NEW TERRITORY for me. It’s amazing...& a little scary. ’

Besides, even if that weren’t the case, who else is going to make sure I don’t leave with some dumb guy that totally wants to take advantage of me? ’ they both know that Lilah can handle herself in those types of situations, but nonetheless, she’ll try to use that as an excuse to get her friend to accompany her. holy  shit  –  that’s  the  coolest  thing  elsie’s  ever  seen  in  her  life.  it’s  also  the  most  terrifying  thing  she’s  ever  seen  ,  and  as  much  as  she  wants  to  just  book  it  away  from  this  ,  she’s  almost  rooted  to  the  spot.  when  delilah  looks  back  at  her  she  almost  tenses  in  fear  ,  but  she  just  lets  her  gaze  flicker  from  the  woman  to  the  man  writhing  on  the  ground  &  attempting  to  pry  a  sharp  heel  from  his  throat.  she  doesn’t  really  want  to  know  what  kinds  of  disgusting  things  he  might’ve  had  planned  for  her  ;  she  winces  a  little  bit  and  quickly  tears  her  eyes  off  him.

❝  hey  ,  look  ,  do  what  you  gotta  do  –  but  don’t  expect  people  to  just  .  .  .  be  okay  with  murder  without  actually knowing  the  reason  why.  knowing  the  reason  why  ,  i’m  –  less  inclined  to  help  him.  ❞    elsie  might  not  think  that  hurting  or  killing  people  is  the  most  moral  thing  but  she  also  thinks  sometimes  you  need  to  take  justice  out  of  the  hands  of  the  law.  she  turns  her  back  so  she  doesn’t  have  to  see  whatever’s  about  to  happen.    ❝  but  i  think  i’m  gonna  need  a drink  after  this  and  i’d  feel  worlds  better  if  you  let  me  buy  you  one  too.  ❞

Lilah’s eyes give away her amusement, though not at the man she has pinned under her heel - at the woman, because this isn’t the first time that people have looked at her like that - fear, awe, surprise...she’s seen it all. In this line of work, you simply can’t afford to care what others think of you. But this is different - this girl is not only about to step back & allow Delilah to finish the job, she wants to buy her a drink for it too. A small smirk crosses her lips & as the girl turns her back, she moves fast, plunging her katana into the man’s chest. He struggles against her for a moment or two, before slumping. She removes the sword from him, using his own jeans to wipe off the blood before sheathing it again. 

Her heels click on the ground as she approaches the blonde, lightly placing a hand on her shoulder as she walks past her, towards the exit, in the hopes of steering her in that direction too. ‘ Sure, I’ll never say no to a drink. Second round’s on me. ’ she doesn’t usually do this with people - but the thought of alcohol & some company is nothing to frown upon. Besides, Lilah thinks, it’s always good to meet another STRONG woman. You have to be strong to simply turn your back on something she claims to be a MURDER. It IS murder - but Lilah sees it only as j u s t i c e.

BARRY ALLEN.

     BARRY NEEDED A COFFEE. His shift at work was killing him, and all he wanted was to be out there, being the Flash. The feeling was addicting, there was really nothing like it. But right now, his brain is frazzled, looking at the same sequencing of DNA over and over, the same footprints, the same everything. He stands in line, feeling like there was no way that this day could get any better when — in a blink of an eye, he twists himself, catching her so she doesn’t fall over. She, being the most b e a u t i f u l woman he has seen in a very long time. Red dress, red lips, and he almost can’t form a thought. He blinks a few time, hiding his gape as fast as he can, even though he’s doing a terrible job at pretending HE wasn’t the one who got knocked off his feet.   “No, no worries at all.”  He says simply, still not having taken his hands off her. Wow. He quickly focuses though, watching her looking him over — a B L U S H forms on his cheeks, and he gives her a smile in return.   “Hi. Uh, Barry Allen. Nice to meet you.”   He finally pulls back, hand out to shake. God, that’s the dumbest thing in the world, isn’t it?   “Trust me, I have two left feet as well, so I get the whole — ”   He makes a stupid hand gesture, laughing a little then. He’s such an i d i o t.

Lilah’s eyes WIDEN, partly as part of the act but mainly because he has an a m a z i n g smile. It catches her off guard - she certainly didn’t expect him to be GORGEOUS. The way he looks at her gives her a l o t of satisfaction - safe to say the dress is working. Yet, along with that satisfaction, she feels flattered, although it’s no secret that she’s a pretty woman. His cheeks stain red, causing her smile to widen & a soft giggle to escape her lips. She shakes his hand, holding it for a few beats t o o long before letting go. ‘ Yeah, it happens to the best of us. I was just reading a guide to Central City. This is my first day here, so...I’m trying to figure out my way around. By all accounts, Jitters is allegedly the best coffee shop this city has to offer, so...figured I’d come & test it for myself. I’m kind of a perfectionist when it comes to coffee, so...the reviews better be right. ’ One of the guys from the front of the line passes by them after getting his coffee, & doubles back to stare at Lilah. Without properly looking at him, as the guy opens his mouth to say something to her, she cuts him off. ‘ Keep moving, mate. ’ her British accent is tinged with mild annoyance, but her smile returns once the guy leaves. ‘ So, Barry...what do you do? Hold on, let me guess...I’m going with SCIENTIST. Or maybe a tech guy. How far off am I? ’ it’s a long line ahead of them, so what better opportunity to get to know him?

Delilah looks up from re-applying her lipstick, eyebrows furrowing slightly as Len speaks to her - he looks pretty serious, like always. Sighing a little, she puts her lipstick & her mirror in her bag & approaches him, stopping only a little bit away. ‘ I’m not lying to you. They tripled the security of that place, & I’m pretty sure one of YOUR guys is a spy, because they seem to have even more security on all the spots WE were supposed to use to get in. ’ she folds her arms, looking at him pointedly. ‘ You may accuse me of lying if you so wish. But the point is, someone is feeding information to the COPS. I think I have an idea of who, if you can trust me for long enough to help you figure it out. ’ Lilah wants to help - because this affects her too. If the police keep tightening up security, getting more cameras, patrolling more of the area, it makes her job a hell of a lot harder as well - she relishes a challenge, but nonetheless, this problem needs to be nipped in the bud.

Lilah sighs, shaking her head at Elsie. ‘ A phone call? While I was in the middle of fighting all those mafia members? I’m not sure that would have worked, E. ’ still, she understands that the girl is concerned for her. She’s not sure what to do with that - after all, it has been a very long time since anyone has truly cared for her. It makes her NERVOUS - but in a good way. She walks closer to Elsie, hesitating a few moments before a hand reaches out to rest on her shoulder. ‘ I’m sorry, alright? I know you were worried about me. I didn’t expect things to go that way tonight. But I’m here, I’m ALIVE, & the job is done. Next time I’ll try to call you, okay? ’ she doesn’t want to fight with her - especially not now. She’s exhausted, & it shows - her eyes are struggling to stay open & are ringed with black circles. She’s been staying up all night for a few days, which she’s sure Elsie KNOWS, trying to figure out a good way to get her job done. Now that it is, she just wants to fall back into the sofa, curl up & not move for the next week. But first she will make sure Elsie is not angry with her - & if she is, find a way to make it up to her. It’s important to Lilah that her roommate isn’t mad at her, especially as she’s become so fond of the girl.

Lilah’s breath catches in her throat as he asks that, teeth biting down hard into her lower lip. The sadness in his eyes as he looks upon her now brings her a feeling of SUFFOCATING guilt. How could she ever have expected to fall for him? This had just been a job at first -- Lilah following her contract. But even from the beginning, Barry intrigued her in a way that nobody has in so long. In her efforts to get close to him, she’s gotten attached - far too attached. That’s what lead to her admitting the truth to him. 

The look on his face makes her heart splinter, & the tears that are beginning to form in her eyes are threatening to start in a DOWNPOUR on her face. Her hands are shaking - she wants to get closer to him, but is afraid he doesn’t want her close to him. ‘ I STILL DO love you. ’ she whispers, her voice trembling a little. He’s the first person in years to make her feel s a f e, & now because of her own idiocy, she’s going to LOSE him. ‘ That wasn’t fake, ever. I never thought I would come to c a r e for someone like this. From the moment we met, I knew you were different. You make me feel...vulnerable. Nobody has ever done that. ’ 

Lilah looks up at him, a single tear rolling down her cheek as she steps closer to him finally. Please don’t move away. Her hands curl into fists, nails digging hard into her palms ( she doesn’t notice the tiny trickle of blood that comes from each hand from digging in too much ) as she scrambles for something, ANYTHING, that can make this better. Maybe nothing can. 

‘ I understand if you never want to see me again. But I NEED you to know that everything we shared was & still is REAL for me. None of that was made up. It was supposed to be...the client asked me to get close to you, so that was always part of the plan, but the point was meant to be for YOU to get attached to me... & I ended up being the one who fell in love with you. ’ she feels more tears forming in her eyes, & so she lowers her head, looking away from him finally. It feels like there’s a HOLE through her chest. ‘ I’m so sorry. You deserve better. ’
