Alex would stim in like ways that would not be taken immediately as stimming. his home situation is mid (which is also why he takes Philip to his hangouts a lot, he doesn't want to leave him home alone) and his parents didn't truly believe the diagnosis, so he tries to stim subtly, he doesn't have to at school but at this point it's so drilled into him he does it. sadly the ways he stims subtly are harmful to him, he sometimes pulls out too much hair and his scalp hurts, or he bites his nails too short, or he picks his skin too much at one spot and it starts bleeding - it really harms him. he is trying to quit this habit, but he still worries about what his parents think about him being "too autistic" for their liking. stimming in non-harmful ways just sadly isn't an option for him right now
