That's what this moment was about. Every since she returned from her getaway trip, Yeji couldn't help but to feel a certain void inside her mind. The things she'd seen, the people she'd met, everything made her believe something wasn't right with her childhood. Kids would play outside, sleep in beds, sit at the table with their family. No cages and no plates on the floor.

The first days after returning to the island were so busy, it helped Yeji to push such feelings aside. But now she was starting to get used to her new routine, it crawled back whenever the demigoddess wasn't keeping herself busy. Yeji pondered several times, how can I get answers? Books wouldn't cut it, she needed a voice to tell her the truth. But who? Ayden was a natural first thought, but, she was scared. Scared the reality would be too embarrassing or hurtful. She didn't want to bring that to her twin brother.

Mom. That's who. Inari would be the ideal person to seek. Despite being her mother, Yeji knew the deity would be direct if her daughter would request such. Without giving another thought, Yeji jumped from her couch, headed towards the elevator and hit the Gods Level. There was no time to hesitate, she needed this. Stopping in front of door number three, Yeji took a deep breath and knocked twice, then called. "Inari? Mom? Are you home?" Her voice was weak but audible enough. Her stomach felt sick with the anticipation, but there was no doubt she is going through it.

"I really need to talk to you. Please…"

Mai did not hate anyone. That wasn't in her nature. But she'd lie if she said the first impression Inari had left her didn't make her strongly dislike the Japanese deity.

But the Celtic demigoddess was all for second chances. Or third… or twentieth. Because no one deserved to be stood up on a date twice… She put her grievances aside and put on a pretty dress, ready to take them on a date. To get to know them better, that was the least Mai could do as one online interaction was not nearly enough to judge someone's character.

Mai walked to Honeypot, her long floral dress flowing in the early spring breeze, the glitter in her makeup subtly sparkling in the setting sun. Once at the restaurant, she looked around trying to spot Inari.

Fight, flight, freeze... Fox

A bright white fox gaited through the post-blizzard snowy landscape of the island. Quietly. It would’ve gone unnoticed, if not for its tail. The otherwise entirely white fox had a tail that looked like it was dipped in a bucket of red paint. A mark only present on one type of fox; the children of Inari. This particular one happened to be the eldest son. The one who hated being in this form.

So how did he end up like this? 

That was the annoying part. 26 years on this Earth and Vulpe still didn’t know what exactly triggered transformation other than stress. But he didn’t feel extraordinarily stressed today, despite the blizzard and black out. One moment he’s just talking, the next he he finds himself strolling about on all fours.

He could probably never show his face to Nathan again...

Vulpe’s perception of time has been skewed; has it been minutes, hours or days, since he found himself in his furry state? The demigod had only turned into a fox once before and it was save to say he hated it. He felt vulnerable, alone and, strangely enough, naked. Nearly two weeks later, the young man had woken up in his bed as himself again. How he managed to do that, was a mystery.

The snow fox panicked briefly at the thought of spending two weeks in this cursed state. Unable to speak or do literally anything he does in his day to day life.

He paused in his tracks as he remembered the text he got from Inari before the black out.

Past Tense | Inari & Zeus

Standing right outside of the Tengu apartment complex Zeus contemplated every decision he had made that day until this moment in time. His day had started out normal. The god had been able to enjoy a wonderful breakfast while seeing the sun rise in the sky and from the way it rose and shone so proudly already, the god could tell that today was going to be a very promising day. His mood certainly had gotten a boost from that tiny fact and thus the greek god had decided to go over to the park. Casually strolling around, he admired its nature in the late morning light as he took in all of the sights the park offered and the scents that came his way. Yet one sight in particular caught his gaze and in the blink of an eye his great mood dropped until a far point below zero. Up ahead he had caught sight of two men walking hand in hand, their backs turned to him so they weren’t able to see him. Of course it didn’t bother the god that two men loved each other and showed it to the outside world, but what bothered him was who those two men were. He had first recognized his own damn son Apollo. The guy who absolutely didn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore, which of course already angered Zeus, but next to him walked Inari, a Japanese deity with whom he shared history with.

The lightning had been crackling and dancing around both of his fists as he saw how both of the men were happily chattering away while walking out of the park. The lightning begged to him to be used, to be send out to strike the Japanese deity and demand him what in hell’s name the meaning of this was. He remembered full well how Inari, just like him, had been known back in the day for sleeping around and he didn’t want this deity to play with the feelings of his own son. Even though Apollo loathed him with every fiber of his entire being, Zeus wouldn’t allow anyone anymore to hurt his children. He loved his children too much to let them be used as puppets by others. It was only because he loved Apollo and didn’t want to make a big scene in front of him that he didn’t strike Inari down then and there. Instead Zeus turned on his heels and stalked out of the park to go find and find a safe place for him to release his lightning bolts into the ground.

The god had went back and forth between the thought of confronting Inari and leaving it be. It was his fatherly love for Apollo that made him decide to go and confront the deity about what he had seen. But of course the god of lightning had come up with a plan so Inari wouldn’t expect that he had seen him together with Apollo. Basking into the warmth the sunlight of the setting sun still provided him, Zeus took a deep breath in an attempt to calm the storm that was raging inside of him. Deciding that he was calm enough to meet with Inari, the greek god entered the apartment building. Asking the receptionist in which apartment Inari lived, the god rode the elevator to the right floor and headed to the right room. Halting in front of the right door, he checked the room number once more before he rang the doorbell. Having to wait for a moment until the door got opened, a slight smug yet seductive smile bloomed on his face when the door opened and he got faced with Inari. His stance not expression betraying the storm that still went on inside. “Hello again, Inari. I wonder if you still remember me after all these years?”

Curious little cub

Yeji had heard about the new business place, a karaoke bar and even though the girl had no interest in giving her vocal skills a try, she saw herself fidgeting with her tail at the entrance. Kitsunebi. She read out loud and chuckled at the irony, aware of the word’s meaning, thanks to the time she spend reading about her heritage. Like a little curious fox, Yeji firstly peeked through the tall glass window, trying to find any sign of movement. She was here and Yeji could sense a rather odd but familiar scent. Perhaps it was a bad idea, perhaps Ayden wouldn’t be happy with her but Yeji’s curiosity overflowed her mind all day, through her work shifts and it was quite settled yet. It’s only a peek, what harm could it bring, right? 

Seeing no one at the entrance, it gave Yeji the courage she needed to step in and praying there was none of those gimmick’s that would call out the presence of a new client. For now, safe, no receptionist at that time and not a soul to be seen. So Yeji took a few more steps, heading to the lounge area, where she could the corridor of the many karaoke rooms. The noise of some of them was too loud, but still distracting. A mix of adrenaline and fear filled her lungs, like she was a character in those horror movies Yeji watched with her twin, but it was a spirit or boogeyman she looked for, but her mother.

“Hum.” She let out a small sigh, tail easing up and hovering barely above the ground. “I guess it’s okay for now. Another day, maybe…”

Go-Go Juice

Another year, another Hallow's Eve Ball. The god had made his rounds, commenting on several of the goers outfits. The island definitely was a creative, eclectic bunch. Yet, that was not surprising at all. So, when he finally decided to take a moment to himself, he had spotted Inari in the distance. The urge to tease the other seemed a bit too tempting, and he reasoned that he should at least greet his other council member.

And when he drew close, he saw that very noticeable flask in their hands. With a snort, the god moves behind them, reaching around their figure so he could craftily slip the flask through their finger tips. Apollo tilted his gaze toward them. "Inari, how kind of you to bring that for me. I could definitely use a bit of juice."

Sekhmet’s finger ran down the sake bottle sat in front of them, droplets of moisture lingering with a pleasant cooling sensation. Checking out the competition at Kitsunebi turned out to be a bit of a surprise for even herself, for the beautiful deity and their amazing offerings left her a little thirsty for more.

“Why, yes,” she admitted with no shame or shyness of any kind. “Were you gonna turn me down?” The fox was a sly, alluring animal, and the lioness wondered what it would be like to conquer such a clever and lithe creature. She couldn’t wait to find out.

Cassandra had spent all night practicing some music for a song that Charlotte had just finished writing not too long ago. By now, her eyes were heavy. Her wrists ached, and she was far too comfortable at one of the recording desks. So where she needed to head home for sleep, the demigoddess stayed unmoved, even when someone entered the recording area.

"Hmm?" She perks her head, looking over at the goddess. Resting her head on her hand, she masked a sigh. "I thought I just needed an energy drink. Are the attentions of a goddess so similar?"
