While reading the story I’ve been listening to Katie Melua’s ‘No Fear Of Heights” and the song was a perfect match to a beautiful story, full of softness, warmth, serenity, welcoming and homecoming.
This year we’re launching InceptionAF (aka Inception Artist’s Favourites). This event is for our fandom’s artists to celebrate their favourite stories by creating art for them.
How does it work?
During Inceptiversary, every week has a theme. Think of your favourite fanfic(s) for any of this year’s themes and create artwork for it. Your artwork must be posted within the relevant theme week.
Please note that we have placed some restrictions on which fan fictions are viable for this event. Participation guidelines, posting schedule and additional information can be found under the cut.

Participation Guidelines
Fanfics
Must have 1000 kudos or less
Must fit the theme weeks (i.e. must feature a rare pair for week four or travel for week five)
Cannot have been created for a Big Bang or Reverse Bang
No limit on number of favourite fics artist can choose
Artwork
Must be posted during the related theme week (dates listed below)
Must be standalone for this event and cannot be a repost or remake of previously posted work.
Can be any format but must be minimum 500x500px (or 4 gifs)
No limits on number of artworks per favourite fic(s)

Additional Information
Can I make more than one piece of art for a single fanfic?
Yes.
Artists may make as many pieces for as many fics provided all requirements are met.
Does my artwork have to feature the theme itself?
No.
The fanfic must feature the weekly theme but the art can be all inclusive since we understand that not all scenes that fit the weekly prompt can be translated into a cohesive piece of art. We encourage the extra challenge, but it’s not mandatory.
Can I create a piece that matches my bingo card?
Yes.
As long as you meet minimum requirements for both events.
Can I use the same fic for more than one theme?
Yes.
If you have a favourite story that features a rare pair and food then it’ll be a viable option for weeks 4 (rare pairs) and week 6 (bon appetit). However, you will have to create two separate pieces as you cannot repost previously submitted work.
Can I only pick one story per theme week?
No.
If wanderlust is your thing and week 5 (travel) is your jam, then you can create art for your favourite however many fics that meet the requirement.
However, please note that you will have to create individual pieces for each fic, post them separately and all within the same week (i.e. for ‘travel’ theme of week five that would be between July 27 and August 2).
Can I make art for a fanfic that already has art?
Yes and no.
If the work was part of a Big Bang or Reverse Bang event, then it will not meet the requirements for this event. Also, if the author has asked that no art be made for their fic, then please respect their wishes and pick another story.
However, if the fanfic was posted as a standalone or for any non-art-related event then you can create artwork for it, no worries.
Why can’t I use a fanfic that has over 1000 kudos?
The goal of this event is two-fold: we want artists to celebrate their favourite fics but also want to encourage readership of lesser known fics. Our fandom is fairly small and the 1000 kudos was deemed a fair cutoff point.
This is non-negotiable.
Can I make explicit art?
Yes.
However, we will not reblog explicit content on this blog, so you will have to submit the link to your artwork (whether you post it on tumblr or offsite) via our submissions page here.
Can I finish all my pieces and post them at the end of Inceptiversary?
No.
You must post within the theme week your chosen fic pertains to.
Do I have to sign-up or claim a fanfic?
No.
This is a free for all event. You can participate every week or just the weeks you are interested in. It’s entirely up to each artist to pick and choose whatever works best for them.

A sense of peril is deliciously rendered in the story. Because, seriously, can it get any worse than loosing any grasp on reality? When time and memory distort - can an unexpected ally be trusted? Holding one’s breath at the edge of the unknown, between the dream and the nightmare.
Even a deadly flower needs sun and nurture to grow strong. Even a vagabond needs a home to come back to. Even a reckless and free-spirited soul of inveterate dreamsharer needs another soul to reach out and connect. And, perhaps, eventually decide on the merger...
The story is a precious gem, so exquisite and sensual and got me into this ship by showing off all its beauty! It’s such a soothing trope: even through some inevitable bumps on the road two people deliberately working and moving towards each other, not against 💙
Everyone knows the ‘Never build from memory’ rule. No one can resist that temptation. "Build” is a drabble that’s like a poem or haiku, was haunting me long after reading and evoking thoughts, feelings and longings for places never visited and for places visited way way too long ago.
A famous place is just a name until its air stings your cheeks. Every dot on the world map is just a dot until it’s a memory, a dream, the most cherished of destinations.
