When was the last time Tommy cried in front of someone? Probably never. Actually, when was the last time he cried at all? He couldn’t say anymore. Tommy never did well with emotions—especially sadness. It was always better to be angry than sad, and that’s how he’d lived for as long as he could remember.

But… so much has happened the past few months. And he felt comfortable around the Wanda. Probably because of that, he couldn’t stop the small tears that stubbornly escaped. He wiped them away furiously, determined not to let any more fall.

“If that’s true,” he began, making an effort to stop crying and to look strong. “then why does everyone always leave me?”

he just wasn't expecting them to drop and run on a dime. He turned, trying to figure out who was behind him that made them short-circuit. Billy had been expecting Eddie, honestly, not - "aren't you dead?"
