The Final Touch 7
I really love the game of soccer. My zeal for this game is watching others who you thought could careless, glisten with happiness for the stars and their team. Seeing a child console a fan from another nation shows me this game is just powerful. Yes, football does a little more than just who loses and who wins. Every game no matter the level that is being played, reflects a feeling of pure joy . Even after a game is lost, it maybe the worst moment for the club, fans included. But the amount of passion that is shown before and even after a game proves how contagious football is. As a fellow fan I not only love this game, I love to give my opinion on many clubs. Doesn’t matter what club it is I like to stay connected. I think the hardest thing to deal with as a fan are changes within the club or country. We know they can either be good or really bad for the consistent growth of the club. No matter if it’s a player, a coach or someone upstairs it’s never a good feeling. That being said it’s time to congregate on something I just don’t believe in. Getting rid of Coaches in the middle of the season. I can understand if it’s for personal reasons but nothing else. Players and fans alike mold their understanding around coaches. Clubs present community and when getting rid of coaches are not done properly, it lures pain. Even if the club is not doing well because of it, live through pain and sort it out at the end. Now, if you’re a team in Europe you might not have the same luxury as leagues in the states do and I understand that. Maybe it’s not the fault of the coach but maybe the people that selected the coach in the first place. Just a thought.
Just recently, Adrian Heath was let go from Orlando City Soccer Club. The team he was leading was falling at a time that could really put a team in a awkward spot in this league. Fighting for a playoff position really kicks off now. It didn’t seem as though we were really making a push for a spot. Even with the wins OCSC seemed stagnant. This might be the concern of fans support groups or whatever but ‘Inchy’ was inching closer and closer to an exit. With that being said, he had until the end of the season for me. He has proven himself in many occasions. That should have earned him sometime to figure out his next move at the end of the season. A similar situation happened in the premier league when Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea. The success he had at this club and passion he relayed to the fans did not go unknown. As I said Europe obviously presents a different situation. If teams are not performing well then they will relegated. That sucks, like alot. This is where the business comes in play. As a fan, I had to teach myself not to fall for a player or a coach. Too many times have I gotten my hopes up to have them smashed into bits because someone was let go. This will happen not very often but I refer to another sport, basketball. After a thirteen year run the Miami Heat lost the king of this is my house, Dwyane Wade. Just stating facts he was a major part of the team. Enlight of his influence on people of the 305, Pat Riley (President of the Heat) felt it was time to say goodbye to Mister Wade County. His time of play with the team was inconsistent due to injury and age but he should’ve been able to retire that number. Winning games is most important and unfortunately the Godfather has a job to do. This being understood, once you become attached it is never easy to lose one of your own. Inchy was a huge part of what OCSC is about, passion. His number being retired for this club, before he moved on was way too early. That passion seems lost at this point. So where do we find it in a time like this?
Fans of this great club and other clubs that are in same predicament rally around constructive movement. Canning a coach right in the middle of the season just doesn’t seem productive. Even if this Interim coach on duty gets the job done let him have that chance next year. This might be a very slim attachement I have to the coach we started with but hey, know one is perfect. The great come and I’m sad to say the great go but let it be at the hands of the front office and the fans. We are a part of the club just as much as the owners are. It might have been time for him to go, I agree with that, but at the end of the season. Other fans feel the same way I feel. So I ask again, how do we rally again? Challenge those in charge. We the people are a part of the club. We go to the game, we wear the jersey, we cheer on the team. Don’t be afraid to let the passion show. Coaches like Inchy, Mourinho gave alot to their clubs. They deserve a graceful exit. I could rant for awhile but I’ll leave that to you. If you think otherwise or agree with what I said, comment! I want to hear from you. Lets get vocal, lets get heard. Thank you so much for reading, really means a lot! So long from the Final Touch.
