Also, there is a secondhand bookshop near Ashburton that is also giant (it is a maze of books. Inside a shed. Because New Zealand. They also give you free hot chocolate in the winter. With chocolate fish. Because New Zealand). Everything is super cheap and it is so easy to get lost in there and I love it. Also, I read somewhere that Watanuki and co are around 18/19 which makes sense but is also so weird because I never realised that being in high school at 19 is normal in the northern hemisphere
Oh my goodness. I’m googling that bookstore right now and it looks wonderful. My only possible criticism is that it’s on thE WRONG ISLAND. How can I visit it if it’s all the way down there? ;_;
Also, re:ages, I totally see their ages potentially being around that number and agree with you that the Northern Hemisphere is weird.

And this is why it's practical for me that there aren't any second hand bookshops where I live cause that's how my place would look like from all the books I 've read and the ones I plan to read. To give you an idea I spent 3 months in England and came back with 3 big stacks of books. Living in the Beast's library has always been a dream of mine. Not the castle (tho it would be great too), the library :) Completely off topic but yeah I got excited, hiii kindred spirit ;)
I have the same problem with books. I mean, it was bad enough already, but it’s even worse in this modern age when you can order books at low prices and get them delivered to your door without ever leaving the house. It’s excellent. And terrible if you have finite space to work with.
One of the only good things that came from moving house so many times last year was that I was forced to downsize my collection every time I shifted. IN SAYING THAT I STILL HAVE FAR TOO MANY, BUT STILL, I TRIED.
Actually a good way to scope out whether you like the book (or any book, really) before you spend any money on it is to check to see if it’s in a library near you.
I mean, I don’t know how libraries work anywhere other than right here in my home city, but mine gives me free access not only to physical books, but ebooks and audiobooks as well. I literally spend all of my daily commute listening to books I’ve downloaded to my phone and it’s so great.
So like, food for thought!
