Yall ever think about how our impression of Gideon as “hot dumb jock girl” is like, primary from Gideon’s own self-perception? Like, she’s SO in her own head about being this Mighty Warrior Woman (tm) that she actively rejects the idea of paying attention, lest it break that facade.

Like. One of the first things we hear about her doing is faking a signature to get herself off the Ninth. That’s no small feat, it takes skill, knowledge, and an ability to navigate paperwork to falsify documents like that, the girl isn’t dumb! She’s just so committed to the warrior savant bit that she avoids all signifiers of intelligence like the plague. It’s fascinating.
