your art is so beautiful!!! how did you learn to do such awesome backgrounds especially?
Thank you so much for your feedback! As for backgrounds; I think the first thing I need to mention that In my childhood I often visited local equestrian club and there was an older girl who was self-taught artist. It was clear she was not fond of me, but I tried to gain her favor and one day I drew her a gift with her oc (it was winged black wolf btw lol). After that she started to take me to plein airs with her, and we drew pines. Loooot's of pines
It seemed boring for me (I was 10-11 yo back then).
I would rather draw characters than landscapes, but I saw it as a chance to bond with the girl, so I endure at first until I started slowly understanding the magic of plein airs and the soothing feeling in drawing landscapes in general
Shortly after I also was accepted into local art school where I developed my background skills in interiors as well
I was on many plein eirs after that and I still do it sometimes nowdays. Mostly I took walks, though, and sometime I see something inspiring (like clouds I saw on one of the recent walks were inspiring for the most recent ych)
so walks / hiking also helps to work on backgrounds.
Also my partner is a tree planter and arborist, and what is more important, they are the most sweet nature lover I know. I like to imagine that I 'translate' their love confessions for nature into my drawings. As I often think about it when I work on backgrounds
But anyway, I think my skills with backgrounds (will and strength to spend time on it generally) started to develop around 2005 on these plein airs with that girl.
Here are some of my old plein air arts (2005 and ~2013)
and Maestro's very old pine drawing (Maestro is the girl I mentioned)
