Watching season two of Fruits Basket. On its own, this isn't particularly notable. But I'm basically catching up to life over a decade late, and thus I'm rather new to anime.
So I'm watching this show, relatively new to anime as I said, and thinking things like, "Why is this appealing? That girl is an airhead."
And then sometime around the middle of season one it switches to, "Holy shit I get it now. KINDNESS IS ACTUALLY BEING TREATED AS A POSITIVE THING, HERE." (What a nice change from the super dark and negative American shows, right?)
And now I'm in season two and it's, "Holy what this show can be freaking bendy and twisted TOO?"
That is the story of how I became addicted to Fruits Basket. And, I'm pretty sure, anime in general.
(I know everyone else on all of Tumblr is already an anime fan and this is all old hat to you, but please accept my humble application to join the ranks. There's a history here I won't go into, but I'm returning to animation after a long hiatus, so I'm... Very behind on things.)
