they are not figuring out who strax is here. one of the dwarves they dont name is doc. 12 is grasping for a list of traits connected to "doctor" here: doctor -> doc -> the other dwarves from snow white.
here they're not talking about clara's name. they're talking about their OWN name. names are not the doctor's area, meaning he's never had one before. they don't know if they'll pick one yet, and clara is an option they could potentially choose, an option they haven't ruled out yet. and the "it's a lottery" comment — sound familiar?
