I like to imagine that civilians in the DC universe often ship their favorite heroes together, but the most popular ships are rarely accurate.
Batman and Superman are shipped with pretty much everyone, but most people are certain they're together or in a threesome with Green Lantern. The fans do not specify which Green Lantern. This was made worse by Dick's time as Batman because he and Clark kept grinning at each other mid battle.
A lot of fans are convinced Nightwing is bi and secretly married to either Red Hood, Green Arrow, or the Flash because there are images of those three looking at his ass (most of the images were taken mid battle). Nightwing is a pretty popular hero to ship with anyone, though, because he has ridiculous amounts of chemistry with everyone. There are absolutely ship wars online revolving around him. His brothers simultaneously think it's hilarious and disgusting.
Fans are convinced black canary and green arrow are bearding for each other and that she's engaged to wonder woman.
Tim and Steph love feeding into the superhero ships until they realize the most popular ships for them are Red Arrow (for Tim) and superboy (for Steph)
