my analysis of this bank vault from the incredibles 2 as a bank teller who has been the vault custodian several times

literal fucking chaos.

to start with, the cash and the safe deposit boxes are in the SAME ROOM. this is a major security issue

i work at a relatively smaller bank so idk how banks in bigger cities work. but either way, it needs to be AWAY from any area the customers are going to be in

the money is just in PILES!!!! it's very possible it got jostled around by the underminer sinking the bank and was in cubes before, but why is it just sitting on the ground??? that could be a fucking NIGHTMARE to count, and the vault has to be balanced daily

bigger banks in large cities have to have a lot of cash on hand but this just seems like actual fucking chaos. we have our cash in a locker that you need the combination for and the thought of it just sitting on the floor is insane to me

incredibles + backgrounders

was talking with a friend about the background characters in both incredibles movies today and it made me realize how big of an improvement i2 was on that

take these mid-action screencaps from the 2nd movie: 

there’s a believable amount of people around. a city isn’t going to immediately be barren once a robot shows up. and there’s additional details, too, like phone booths and plants that make it feel like a lived-in city.

compare this to several screencaps from the first movie right as the omnidorid arrives:

there’s NO ONE HERE. i made a point to include the shots where there’s the most people, but even THERE, the city looks empty. it looks like a very sparse amount of people standing around in a concrete lot.

after syndrome’s introduction is over, we don’t see ANY civilians until the robot is gone, and the sidewalks are very plain.

and when they do show up, it’s still very empty.

compare to crowd shots in i2:

you can very distantly see people on the sidewalk in that one. and people have backed away from the street in this one, but they haven’t all disappeared:

also while we’re at it, the diversity improved a TON. the chad i2 backgrounders vs the v*rgin i1 backgrounders

my point is not to make fun of i1. it’s one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time! it was pixar’s first time animating humans, and there’s not really many crowd shots to begin with (the only other one is at dash’s track meet, and there, we get to see all the potato people close up). most shots are in places like work, someone’s house, or the island.

i’m just making an observation on how much they improved. the city in incredibles 2 is a place where people live and work; the city in incredibles 1 is a set piece they scattered a few potato human models on. it’s so interesting to look at the two back to back

OH MY GOD. at violet and tonys wedding once the hora is started instead of multiple people lifting the chairs bob lifts both of their chairs one in each hand

yall think syndrome deserved better just because we saw him as a kid in the movie?? yeah 12 year old buddy did nothing wrong he was just a misguided child that wanted to help i agree with that sentiment but the SECOND that same person got older and started murdering members of a fictional marginalized group is the second that he stops deserving any of my sympathy. it was small-scale genocide. if this is the person he grew up to be after being rejected once? no amount of kindness from mr. incredible could change buddy's path.

and that isn't even touching on the fact that he sent missiles and armed guards after children and fully intended to take an infant from his family after devastating an entire city for his own glory. i get being sympathetic to syndrome during his childhood but honest to god what he experienced back then was NOT that bad in the long run and it doesnt even come close to what he inflicted upon the parr children. he got the death he deserved and that has nothing to do with who he was when he was 12

game theory

violet and dash each inherited both bob’s super strength and helen’s elasticity: they just didn’t manifest in obvious ways

to reach the super speeds dash is able to reach, his muscles have to be elastic in one way or another. he’s able to move super fast because he’s able to just slightly stretch his limbs over and over in minute amounts to do so. it wouldn’t be noticable if you slowed down footage of him and just looked at his arms and legs, but there’s something going on at a molecular level, if that makes sense

dash’s super strength is also in his limbs, because if his limbs weren’t at least super strong to a mild degree, they’d give out. it might only “activate” when he’s running or moving, and not when he’s trying to lift something.

violet’s elasticity is a bit of a stretch (LEL) because it involves her manipulating or stretching the molecules around her to form forcefields. so she basically alters the molecular makeup of the air in order to shape it into a barrier.  it also comes into play when she turns invisible; she’s altering something, whether it’s her own mass or the space around her, to make herself disappear

and, perhaps the most obviously, her forcefields are as strong as they are because of super strength. i think violet also has some standard super strength as well, but it’s nowhere near as strong as bob’s. i talked about it in this post

anyway i don’t think this means that every child of a super HAS to have some semblance of their parent’s powers present in their own. my headcanon is that specific powers aren’t inherited from super parents, and it’s pretty much random. this post is just for fun

filling out this meme for violet cause i thought it was fun. things in violet’s:

car trunk - distress signal button for hero stuff, jumper cables, extra camera film, a change of clothes that don’t match her style and a spare super suit and mask in a hidden compartment just in case

lunch bag - two peanut butter sandwiches, bottle of water, and powder flavor to put in the water

overnight bag - pjs, toothbrush, meds, a book just in case, a mask just in case (just assume she carries a mask everywhere she goes), another distress signal bob and helen gave to her that she keeps in a box, hairbrush

medicine cabinet - gauze, triple antibiotic, suture kit, seven different kinds of pain pills, ice bag, her prescriptions for estrogen and anxiety, lots of headbands

high school locker - a binder for every subject labeled with stickers, extra paper, extra pencils, an extra calculator, a couple books she hasn’t finished yet

locked safe - her first super suit, the tape from tony’s first nsa interview with dicker, her nsa employment papers

pockets - a pack of gum, a couple bandages just in case, her library card, at least $20 at all times

junk drawer - this stuff isn’t junk but the movie tickets from her first date with tony, a drawing jack jack did for her when he was two years old, some polaroids she hasn’t gone through yet, several pinback buttons from rallies and protests she’s attended, notes she passed with gigi in class about a new invention idea

now for some reasoning behind the countries i said. dehydra is meant to be from a country in africa i think, and the flag template it mostly closely resembles from that continent is either liberia or zimbabwe, since those both have a lot of horizontal stripes. 

icebreaker's more ambiguous but i thiiink the flag could possibly be smth meant to resemble the canada leaf so that's what i put down. but he could be from a lot of other diff countries too

zephyr's kinda ambiguous too, and i just put australia because of the waves on the flag. country flags in the incredibles universe do seem to be at least partially based on what the country is known for, or what their exports could be? cause several flags have pictures/symbols on them that don’t match anything from the real life flags

cindy ward-deavor is around 4 or 5 in incredibles 2. she's evelyn's daughter and she lives w her unnamed mother (the lady she’s with in the crowd), so she interacts with the super kids sometimes, but not all the time 

cindy is really fuckin creepy but she's not trying to be. she's into horror and stuff and she'll just randomly say things like "i wonder what the inside of an eyeball looks like" 

when jack jack's a little older (and he would be by the time she met the parrs i think, bc she lives w her unnamed mom and winston doesn't see her that often) she mostly plays w him bc he's kind of a fuckin weirdo too even tho she's a couple years older

 like jj runs up and hes like "mommy daddy uncle winston! me and cindy came up with a play!!" and theyre like oh my GOD thats so cute and they sit down to watch and its a drama involving poison and revenge 

 he ends up using her as a model for his very first clothes that he makes. she's cool with it because he lets her keep some of the needles afterward and she sees how long she can stay completely still for funsies. she uses the needles in her blossoming insect taxidermy hobby

when she grows up, she mentors under tony in the nsa and their dynamic is kinda hilarious bc its like “someone vaporized city hall” “like with their MIND???” “this is not a good thing cindy”
