Here’s my somewhat belated Indie Comic Con wrap up post. What a day, what a weekend! A great event that came together fantastically with an amazing collection of artists and creatives, my only disappointment being not being able to get around to talk to all that I wanted to - apologies to those I didn’t get to. It was a great pleasure to be able to get to know Daniel and Phoebe Watts better, as well as Bradley Adan all of whom were my nearest tabling neighbours. I always find that the greatest dilemma of attending any convention is determining how much time to spend behind the table and how much money to spend in front of the table. I braved such issues anyway and ended up with a good haul from the likes of Jason Franks who inscribed his tome Faerie Apocalypse with a personal note that will stay with me forever, Darren Zen Close’s beautiful work, Struggle, Alex Smith’s lovely anthology of short stories, SSOB Story, Jess Parker’s enticing preview of, 10 Years Ago Today, Dedkelly’s mad preview of his upcoming book and Aon and Marion Comics’ Season One collection of comics and prints. Thanks also to the Radults crew, Mike Speakman and Brenton for the chance to chat on the day - I look forward to listening to the podcasts when they are available as you spoke to a lot of creators on the day. Finally, thank you to Nathan Onias and Verity Sathasivam for organising the event and giving me the opportunity to run a workshop on the Sunday. I think I was able to share some useful ideas and ways of approaching making comics and I had a great time too! Absolutely looking forward to the next one, and for anyone who didn’t quite make it, Make sure you mark it in your diary for next year!
