jedi are colonizers
if they secretly have indian boarding schools for “difficult” force sensitives they deem dark and unnatural where they do their hardest to try beat the sense of self out of them & “turn them into” something they’re not, like how colonizers tried to “turn natives white” through racist pseudoscience that tried breaking indigeneity down to arbitrary quantifiers or cosmetic traits as well as systemic erasure & mass discrediting of indigeneity existing so the invaded natives stay erased & discredited instead of finally beating their invaders… i would not be one bit surprised. they give that vibe.
if you have a couple of bucks to spare, consider throwing them to The Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS). they provide counseling and other forms of support to first nations people who are residential school survivors. this is a list of other charities that support first nations people, this list is a mix of charities and ways to learn more about first nation activism and history, and this is a link to a free online college course called Indigenous Canada

My 5⭐️ review of We Will Not Be Saved by Nemonte Nenquimo.
Thunderous.
This is harrowing, but don’t be fooled by the title, it’s also a hopeful and inspiring memoir. The opening chapters were pretty hard to read because it confronts you with the pure, multi-faceted evil of the Christian missionaries. Contrasting this are the descriptions of Nemonte’s early life in Toñampare, which are rich, beautiful and incredibly well written. I did feel a bit conflicted about Mitch (her gringo husband) being the one who wrote the book in English, as it’s written in first person prose and this is partly why it feels so powerful, but Nemonte dictated it to him in Spanish so I trust that it’s as authentic to her words as possible. You couldn’t make up a more compelling story. I found this hugely emotionally and spiritally affecting.
Fun fact: in Anishinaabemowin, the term for a cat purring is "nagamo gaazhagehns" / "nagamo biizhehns" / " nagamo boozhehns" (different dialects have varying words/spellings for a house cat)
But the main thing is that "nagamo" is the verb for "he/she/that one sings"
Cat purring in Anishinaabemowin is essentially called "cat singing"
friendly reminder: May 5th is the MMIWG day- the national day of awareness for missing and murdered Indignenous women & girls.
as a young Indigenous woman, allow me to present you with just a few statistics:
Indigenous women (+ girls) face a murder rate more than 10x times the national average
Homicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among NTV girls & women (10-24) and the 5th leading cause of death for ntv women (25-34)
More than 4 outta 5 (84.3%) Indig women have experienced violence
More than half Indig women (56.1%) experience sexual violence
Indigenous women are sacred. The violence against us is a national shame.

so fucking weird seeing nonblack people try and say that all usamericans automatically have privilege over the rest of the world as an afro-indigenous dude with the surname of the man who owned the plantation my family was enslaved by and who knows of HUNDREDS on family members still living on that land
