Don't know how you feel about it, but I'm really enjoying the 90s hip-hop revival these NY kids are bringing us these days. There's a reverence to Tribe, De La, DJ Screw, Hieroglyphics, Dilla, etc. from kids that were in diapers then.
The Underachievers are the latest to roll hard and they have a mixtape you should download here. Flying Lotus reps them for Brainfeeder which is a good move for both. To me, they take the best of both rap eras, the underground one that brought us '93 Till Infinity, and the one they currently inhabit with dudes like A$AP and Joey Bada$$. Smart rap that flows over nostalgic sounding beats. Feels fresh in a weird way though. Bout it, bout it.
