happy valentines to the people who are missing that one canonmate,
to the people who’ve found that one canonmate and are very happy with them,
or aren’t because they turned out to be a dick or you just didn’t connect the same way any more.
happy valentines to the people who’ve found fellow alterhumans, or very understanding humans,
to the people with humans who don’t understand but love you anyway (whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing for you),
to the people who keep their alterhumanity hidden from their partners, or who don’t have anyone and are worried that their alterhumanity means they never will.
happy valentines to the people who experience love, affection, attraction, in manners that humans can’t possibly understand,
that you might not even understand,
to all the people for whom love means something different, or nothing at all.
a friendly but stoic nod of acknowledgement to the people who just hate valentines day for whatever reason.
because our alterhumanity doesn’t take holidays just because we do.
