Director of PT KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, on Sunday inaugurated a CC 201 series locomotive unit with the livery used by this state-owned company in the 1953-1991 period. "This locomotive with vintage livery is a form of adaptation and appreciation for KAI to be closer to the community as well as a form of education to the public regarding the development of railways in Indonesia," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo at the Yogyakarta Railway Yasa Hall. Through this vintage livery, he said, PT KAI hoped that the public would get to know the long journey of railways in Indonesia. It is also hoped that this will foster a sense of pride in the mainstay of transportation for the Indonesian people. This vintage livery was used by KAI for 38 years from 1953-1991 and was first used in the first diesel locomotive in Indonesia, the CC 200. This livery, he said, was used by this company when it was still called DKA (Djawatan Kereta Api), the State Railroad Company (PNKA) to the Railway Bureau Company (PJKA). KAI is currently applying this Vintage Livery to Locomotive CC 201 83 31 owned by Dipo Semarang Poncol. The painting itself was carried out at KAI's locomotive workshop, Balai Yasa Yogyakarta. "Rail transportation as one of the modes that have existed in Indonesia since 1864, we must continue to protect and develop. Let's together build a new civilization for the Indonesian people in transportation," concluded Didiek. Locomotive CC 201 has a weight of 84 tons and an engine power of 1950 hp. This locomotive, which is capable of traveling at a speed of 120km / hour, has a Co'Co axle arrangement which means 2 bogies, where each bogie has 3 drive axles with a total of 6 traction motors so that this locomotive can be operated on flat or mountainous routes. Locomotive CC 201 is a diesel electric locomotive owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia which is produced by General Electric Transportation with the U18C model type and is capable of running up to 120 kilometers per hour. Throughout his tenure in Indonesia, this locomotive has experience pulling executive, business, economy, mixed and even freight trains. For now, this locomotive is mostly in the service of pulling the business train. This locomotive is also one of General Electric's most successful locomotives in Indonesia. The return of the vintage livery in this locomotive, he added, is the result of a collaboration between KAI and the railway-loving community of the Semboyan Satoe Community and the Indonesian Railway Preservation Society. "Thank you for KAI's response so that what we propose can be realized. KAI has been able to prove over a long period of time as a reliable rail-based mode of transportation that is of the greatest interest to the wider community, "said the Head of the Satoe Community Semboyan Teguh Imam Santoso who was also present at the inauguration ceremony.
