Our Side by @ineffablegame is one of my favorite fanfiction in the GO fandom.
It’s part of the stories I cherish and keep coming back to read, when I feel like I need it. I’m very glad, if not a bit nostalgic already, that the story is now over. So here’s a little fanart to celebrate! Also, a little bit about why I love it so much under the “read more” .
First, because to me, it’s a story about how much it hurts to be free, really free. Of course, this topic is brushed in the book and the show - when all the characters choose to cut their ties (from prophecies, heirdom, haven, hell…). Well, the truth is that the process of freeing yourself is generally hecking ugly : it hurts like ripping off a bandage. Its messy, it’s raw, you’ll have to take a good look at yourself and overcome a lot. This pain is woven here in every single beautiful word.
It’s also a story about how much you have to work and talk and fail and try… to build a balanced relationship. Sometimes, you have to hold on and sometimes, you have to let go. As a rock climber and as a lover - this is perhaps one of the most vivid, beautiful and heart-wrenching depiction I've ever read about that very simple truth.
This is also a story about fear. How it shapes you - and damage you more than any wound or bad experience will ever. Because in this story, you’ll find a lot of what we’ve all been through these past few month thanks to the epidemic. The fear of loosing your life. The fear of loosing the ones you love. The fear of a threat so huge and transcendant, looming everywhere and that you literally haven’t the power to fight off. A threat from which you can just run and hide. This is a very cathartic story, I think, and a welcome thing to read right now.
Ultimately, this is about how, no matter what you’re told, the hurt, the sheer rage and pain you feel - you can always chose to love, and that’s what the original story is also all about, I think?
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I’ve got a new project (even though I’m not done some old ones...), I would like to give a big thank you to @ineffablegame for letting me write something with this, it was not my idea at all I just loved it a lot.
Anyways, it’s based on this post, I hope you guys like it, it’s going to be a tonne of fun!
Description:
Ezra Fell is just as stunned as Adam Young when he's granted custody of the boy after the untimely demise of his parents. Though their relationship is rocky, they eventually settle in a bookshop in London and try to live a normal life.
Across the road is a florist. Ezra thought him to be just another neighbour until he ran across the road, yelling that Adam had gotten into an altercation his son at school.
Crowley has been running "Fleurish Flowers" for the last nine years, exactly as long as he'd had Warlock, although those two were not connected. All was relatively normal in his life until the odd bookshop moved in across the street.
An odd bookshop, with an even more odd, yet somehow fascinating, owner.

ohhh, shiny! what brand/shade of lipstick are you wearing? it's super pretty.
Thanks! It’s Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in “L.U.V.”!!! I am super impressed with it, and I just ordered the same shade in the matte lipstick to see what that’s like, too. I’m sort of obsessed with this purple thing rn.
all of you who put my ego through the roof with your comments on my last selfie are precious flowers, and i hope the sun shines on you this week <3 <3 <3
