"Augh! It hurts!"
"I’m curious what hurts more: how quick the DUPs turned on ya the second they found out you’d been talkin’ with an unidentified free conduit, or when one of ‘em sent a shit-ton of concrete splinters straight into your leg ta slow you down."
Her voice was filled with a false cheeriness as she pulled the remaining bits of concrete from his leg. Her hands were not nearly as cheery. Each shard was yanked out with very littler regard for how much that probably hurt. They were conduits after all, he would heal quick enough, and she was pissed.
It had taken so much of her time to watch him, get a feel for his routine so that she could “accidentally” bump into him a few times without rousing suspicion, attempt to start up a friendship. She had been so close to access to his electronic, the DUPs files on anything they knew about her!
"Wonder how long they knew I was a conduit before they decided to use you as bait. Sucks for you they decided that must mean you’re a traitor without even askin’ ya. Could’ve saved themselves from losin’ their tech guy."
She wouldn't be so angry if she knew how they knew her face! After being so careful! Now her one way in was gone and she would never know.
