For that, I’m glad.
Ah, Lady Elfe- A pleasure to see you again.
infamousrevolutionary started following you
Silence steps-- one paces to two, two turns to three-- to most, it might have gone undetected; for the crimson form, he turns back.
infamousrevolutionary:
Indeed, the Rufus before her was the picture of good health.
Feeling a slight bit indignant, Elfé cleared her throat. Was her...concern over nothing, then? No, he's probably hedging as always. Knowing him, he would try and cover up whatever vulnerabilities -- anything -- he had that may hurt his image in the eye of the public. Surely, Elfé figured, that Rufus must have retreated to Healin for a reason; after all, it was unlike the business-minded man to take off on vacations just like that. According to him, such things were a waste of time.
Realizing this fact only made her raise a brow.
"True. You're too stubborn, even for the Stigma." She almost cracked a half-smile, but quickly retracted it, hoping the other didn't see. "... As for me, I've been well." A pause. "Well, if you don't have the Stigma, then what, may I ask, are you doing here? Surely, you're not on vacation?" Her eyes moved to the nearest chair. "May I?" She asked, inadvertently sounding sarcastic.
Ah. Touché.
"By all means. And change of scenery is always welcome," Rufus answered. "Costa del Sol is too sunny, and Edge is too dull. As to your accusation of me taking a vacation, you could see for yourself in my study that I haven't been idle."
Lying to Elfé was a dangerous game, of course. He knew her enough to know she could positively sense things, at times. And the paperwork he had brought with him to Healin was minimal compared to those left in his office.
"But where are my manners? You see, I am rather understaffed here--the best way to deal with incompetence is to be rid of it, I've heard--but all the same, would you like anything? A beverage, perhaps?"
infamousrevolutionary:
To see Rufus again, in person, was overwhelming in its own way. She had so much to tell him; so much to say. So much she wanted to clarify, and yet, none of that mattered at the moment.
"I was -- " she paused for a short moment, seeming a slight bit hesitant on her next choice of words. Worried? "... I heard that the Stigma was back, and that you were among those infected." However, now that they were in close proximity, Elfé was able to get a better look at the supposedly "ill" and dying president. He stood there, without any form of aid. He exhibited no signs of pain or physical stress, and the color of his skin hasn't faded one bit.
She came under the impression that this illness, whose life-threatening effects increased by ten-fold, wasn't something that even Rufus ShinRa could hide. And yet, here we was, healthy in appearance, seeming more than all right. Not that she wasn't happy about that.
... Maybe Zack got it wrong. Maybe Rufus didn't infected. Wait -- what if this was all a ruse? Zack wouldn't -- would he? No...
She sighed low and idly took another small step forward. "I just -- are you all right?"
So. She knew. No, not "knew," Rufus corrected himself. Elfé couldn't have had conclusive proof. He had kept the matter quiet, after all, and he was now cured.
"As you can see, I am, modestly speaking, the picture of good health."
He was not lying, of course. But he was not telling the entire story, either. But Rufus saw no point in worrying the leader of AVALANCHE. Matters might... degenerate, after all.
"So you have come here only to ask such a trifling question?" he went on, taking the offensive with a chuckle. "I'm disappointed. Do you think the president of Shin-Ra Inc. will go down due to such things like the Stigma? But... ah, I am being cruel, I suppose. But what of yourself? You are all right, I assume."
infamousrevolutionary:
"The door is open," a familiar voice said, "you may come in." Suddenly, she felt uneasy again, and whether or not that was good or bad was her last concern. Her feet urged her to turn back and walk away, but she had come too far and invested too much effort in all this, even risking rebuttal from her faction to back out now.
Besides...she had to know. She had to make sure that he -- that he was was all right.
To her best efforts, Elfé tried to quiet her mind, and quickly. She turned the knob and gently pushed the door open, eliciting a small creaking sound. With measured steps, a mild expression gracing her face (one that she hoped would mask her concern well), she finally spoke.
"Rufus."
Upon hearing the voice, Rufus almost gave a start--of shock? Of alarm? Of joy? He could not tell. It had been long since they had met in person, and that was when the old feud between Shin-Ra and AVALANCHE erupted. A feud that our side started, he reminded himself. But it was for the greater good, was it not? And yet, still...
There she was, by the door, her expression familiar to him.
"Elfé. I am glad that you have come." And, perhaps for good measure, he added, "To what cause do I owe this visit, hmm?"

Good morning, Ashe.
Ah, Elfe- Good morning to you as well. How are you doing?
