A little sleepy! - From Judy to Night
A little sleep: One of our muses falls asleep on the other
—It was storming that night at the hospital, lightning lighting up the sky like fireworks. The young doctor was on his way to his office, humming along to the sound of thunder with each flash of lightning. He was in particularly high spirits because of the sudden storm.
The hallways and rooms were dark, almost everyone being in the recreational room for movie night and those who weren’t there were tucked soundly into their beds, well into dreamland by this hour. That’s what he thought of course.
Glowing golden eyes seemed to focus on a silhouette in the darkness as he approached his office and living area. A flash of lightning illuminated the figure, it was none other than Judith. His eyes softened as he smiled at her when he approached, rubbing the back of his head and chuckling when she gave him her usual cold stare followed by the words ‘You’re late.’
He knew what she meant. He knew that she was aware of his patterns, even when he usually returned to his office to turn in for the night. It was a full hour later than when he usually returned due to having to help the nurses with the equipment for the movie. Without even questioning why she was here, he dug his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the door before picking her up and entering the room, shutting the door behind him of course.
She often came to his office when he had to do paperwork, assuming it was because she was bored he usually let her stay, not that he was complaining. Sitting down in his chair, he set her down in her usual spot: his lap. Once she had made herself comfortable, he picked up his pen and got to work on the stacks of paperwork that littered his desk. ~
~ Hours had passed before the doctor decided he was done for the night. Setting his pen down he shifted a bit, the one in his lap stirring a bit when he moved. Looking down he realized that she had fallen asleep sometime while he was working. How cute. With a contented sigh and a pat to the top of her head he leaned back in his office chair, propping his feet up on the desk to be more comfortable and to not wake her too much. And with that, golden hues drifted closed.
