INFERENCE NOTES | s01e01
18/24: Inference Notes
Why, oh why couldn’t this Cdrama have focused on Mi Kaka and Qi Mu and their conflict with Poker? Why did it have to focus on Edison who, despite being a spy and a traitor, was the most boring character of the whole drama? Seriously, this could’ve been so, so awesome. As it is, it’s barely a 6/10 drama and that mainly because I really liked Mi Kaka and his relationship with his big brother, Mi Jie, and the madman that was Qi Mu...
So, if I get it right, the secret organization called Poker had built a machine that could calculate anything, even the future. But it needed a human brain to work. And for that, there were two candidates, two kids: Qi Mu - and Mi Kaka. Qi Mu’s mother willingly gave her child up but Mi Kaka’s parents tried to save him - they died in a fire, though. It was his older brother who pulled little Kaka out of that fire and since then, he’d been keeping his existence a secret. But because he never told Kaka any of that, Kaka didn’t know what was happening. Sure, he did feel that something was wrong which is why he kept his real intelligence secret, even from his big brother, but not knowing about Poker, he started playing their computer game, Inference Notes, the one they used to ferret out really smart people all around the world and because he excelled in it, Poker - and Qi Mu - found him...
Gosh, if the drama had focused on that, it would’ve been just about perfect. Qi Mu’s obsession with Mi Kaka - the ending, when Mi Jie saw Qi Mu’s drawing of Kaka! O.o - and Mi Kaka’s relationship with his brother, those were namely the saving graces of this series. And the wasted potential just miffs me to no end... Argh!
Yeesh, because it’s not at all creepy when your “teacher” has pictures of you. And not just taken by someone else but your actual selfies. From your phone, your house etc. Ugh, Qi Mu is so weird. And he’s obviously not all that much interested in Edison but much more in Mi Kaka. Why does Poker want Kaka? Argh, tell me! Or, Inference Notes, episode 15...
Ooooooh, Inference Notes, episode 14! When Mi Kaka realized that the ICIA people were trying to frame him. He usually doesn’t get angry. But this time he did, he went so rigid and cold. Because he just found a crime scene, he figured out how one of the victims got killed - and they were trying to put the blame on him! Yeesh! I wonder just how closely Poker actually follows Kaka if they knew where to find him and when to arrive there to catch him with the body...
Also, I loved when they went to put him in handcuffs and he simply grabbed the cuffs, saying, “I’ll do it myself!” and snapped them on. Now that’s a power move!
Episode 13 of Inference Notes! Now we’re getting somewhere!
So, Mi Jie, Kaka’s big brother the cop, is now a member of Poker? And Edison was a member, too? And not only that, when Edison was murdered, the leader of Poker implanted his... being into Zaoan with the promise to bring him back to life if Edison went to “that teenager” and guided him into the leader’s plan? So, does it mean that the leader has known all along who Kaka was? Whoever that is because we still don’t know that? Apparently, though, Kaka’s someone really important to Poker - or at least to the leader - since he went to such lengths to pull Kaka into his machinations. And now Poker started cleaning up its mess by killing all the people involved in the girl band murders. That was brutal O.o
Oh, how I wish that Inference Notes focused more on Mi Kaka and the mystery surrounding him and his connection to Poker instead of on Edison. I know that Edison is supposed to be this “super spy” but, IMO, he’s just boring. But Kaka...
For example: In ep 11, we got several things confirmed. Mi Kaka is intentionally lowering his grades by skipping the best graded questions in school tests. Why? Why is it that he doesn’t want people to know just how smart he really is? Why is he trying to avoid attention? Why doesn’t his older brother want to talk about the accident that killed their parents? And why doesn’t he want Kaka to do anything dangerous, up to and including driving?! Also, why is Kaka so off physically, as in he admitted he’s always tired?
Like I said, he’s such a fascinating character! I want to know more about him!
I watch a Chinese drama series “Inference Notes” and suddenly at episode 17. Is this story written by a Whovian?
You’re not an orphan. Of course I’m not, I have you. That’s not what I meant. I can assure you that they loved you very much.
Inference Notes, episode 5
Oooh, now we’re getting somewhere with the Kaka mystery! So, Jie and Kaka’s parents were a genetic engineer & a computer specialist? And they died in a lab explosion? And Jie carried his baby brother out of the fire which left him with an ugly burn on his back?
Also people behave kinda strangely around Kaka. First, Qi Mu, their substitute teacher and student at the same university as Kaka and Zaoan, the guy seems to know everything about Kaka and the way he follows him with his eyes when Kaka’s not looking is really creepy. And then his brother, Jie, when he assured Kaka that their parents loved Kaka very much, he said it with this... unreadable expression. I wonder what he knows, about Kaka and about the lab explosion, about why people might be interested in his little brother...
Hm, I’m starting to think that Kaka could be either a clone of someone who was important to the bad guys or a genetically engineered human that the bad guys want for some reason...
Curiouser and curiouser!
