MEMES I LOST @infernoh: “ if you have something to say, spit it out. ”
❛ i’m not mad at you i’m just...i’m worried. i’m worried about my kid who just made everyone’s lives worse with that stupid stunt he pulled. i’m worried about my ex-wife who i haven’t seen since she got back. i’m worried about my brother who might be dying right now and i’m worried about my ex-girlfriend who tried to erase herself from my memory. so if i’m short right now ---it’s all of that. ❜
Ma'am Jean Grey-Augustine......
you better put a ring on it ,,, ;)

could you do an au where instead of aang waking up 100 years later instead its 40 or something and hes friends with hama and kanna please :)
Okay, to tell you the truth, my initial knee-jerk reaction was 'uggggh dumbbb.' But then I took a second to think about it and holy crap this is the coolest AU idea!!! I don't have the energy to write this story, and also it would be hella complicated to sort out, but WHOAAA this is neat to think about! So the group dynamic would change. If we're timing this so that Kanna's in the South Pole (and I'm assuming that betrothals might wait at least until a bit after 14/15), Kanna and Hama would be in their late teens. Let's assume that they're as close as siblings, and what we have here is effectively a pair of sisters with a six-years-younger little brother they adore.
This would be so neat! So if they head out with Aang, we've got one waterbender (who's pretty skilled, it seems) to teach him his second element. I really like the idea that Sokka got his gadget-making-ways and/or fighting skills at least somewhat from his grandma, and given how the southern tribe has been getting whittled down, it's totally reasonable to assume she participated in defense. Also, I sez that Kanna still wears her betrothal necklace as a sign of defiance, because she's a strong independent woman who don't need no Pakku.
Now, story-wise, there are a LOT of ways this thing could go, especially if we consider canon past and present events. If they have a reason to travel to the North Pole, there's conflict between Pakku and Kanna, as well as conflict between Northern bending tradition and Hama being a fighting waterbender. Perhaps Pakku could even get a Sokka-esque stop-being-sexist arc, maybe he and Kanna could reconcile as platonic friends (and maybe eventually she comes around to him in a romantic way, heyyyy?). In the fire nation, their main opponent is firelord Azulon. Iroh's turnabout came from his son's death in canon, but what if this group subverted a fire nation prince? What if they subverted TWO fire nation princes? What if these southern water tribe peasants and this random-ass kid monk managed to turn BOTH Iroh and Ozai against their father? (I personally intensely dislike the idea that Ozai was a bad egg from the start, and I prefer to think it was the toxic political environment that gradually corrupted him) It didn't happen in canon, but what if a fire nation prince did fall in love with a southern waterbender girl? :D
So wow, yeah, LOTS of ideas, and I wrote for forever and that doesn't begin to even scratch the surface. I legit do not have the spoons to tackle this thing on my own as a full story, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to, but thank you so much for sending such an interesting prompt!
