New art from the displate collection
I always thought it was weird that ATLA set up this philosophy of “all the elements are equal and amoral and benders will use their craft for good or evil” but then chucked it straight out the window when it came to the topic of bloodbending.
A power that creates fear and pain and only seems to be used for destruction? I can’t think of anyone who would know what that feels like.
Katara should have used bloodbending to strengthen her skills as a healer. That seems like the most obvious solution and fits with her character. This is a skill she learned from a SWT bender and although that bender used it for evil, she will use it for good.
Vague katara designs for a Hama au laterrrr

Inspired by one incorrect quote I can't find :(
It went on kind of like this: Hama said that the moon gives her power, and Katara replied that the moon gives her more power since Katara's brother dated her. If you know this post please please please tell me so I could credit the author of the original idea.

Warrior poet 💛
AtLA AU where instead of leaving Hama with the villagers (wtf terrible choice) the episode ends with Sokka, our pragmatist, recruiting her to the team.
Sokka: Look you nearly shish-kebobed Aang and me, don't appreciate that. Sokka: You coerced and deeply upset my little sister, really don't appreciate that. Sokka: BUT. Sokka: You're a Waterbending Master who's flown under the radar in the Fire Nation for years and invented an entirely new overpowered waterbending technique and definitely want to take down the Fire Lord, right?
Hama: Of course.
Sokka: Well we need to keep flying under the radar in the Fire Nation until we reach the capitol for an attack on the day of the eclipse. Help staying stealth, plus a technique absolutely none of our enemies know is possible, let alone how to counter? Way too good to pass up.
Katara: Sokka, bloodbending only works on the full moon. The eclipse is too soon for another one.
Hama: She's right you know. Very smart girl.
Sokka: I know! Personally witnessed it via near shish-kebobing! Anyway even when you can't bloodbend you're still a Master Waterbender! Sokka: Plus, I admit, I don't know how all these rules for bending work, I'm the engineer, not the spiritual specialist--
Aang: That's me!
Sokka: But we're going to invade the Fire Nation capitol on the day that the moon eclipses the sun.
Katara: . . .
Toph: . . .
Aang: . . .
Hama: . . . Give me a hand up onto that bison, dearie.
