"Aww, Ben, that's--" Addressing him by name rather than his paternal title was a stretch. Just like saying he knew Richard and Mary through his aunt and uncle. But he did, in this messed up world that could've placed Peter in worse situations in life. It hurts not to be trusting enough of his old man right now to tell the Spider-secret.
Worse that his daughter is the only one to not only know, but to have inspired the red and blue. "If I were anyone else, I'd call you absurd. Though I have to admit, I couldn't connect Spider-Dude to Fisk. Was the shock glove guy a henchman? Why would a 'philanthropist' who wants this news company we're sitting in the offices of right this minute go to all the trouble of hiring any enforcers at all to tango with masks, and not wire this very room to listen in on our conspiracies as a leverage to end us? I think it's too early to assume any connections between these incidents, and that we should let these things determine their own ends."

May was correct and she almost sounded as much as MJ. He can't deny, this morality and sense of righteousness have threw him and those around him into countless troubles but it's not like he can help it. Not when he carries it all like a responsibility upon his shoulders no matter how small the good deed is.
❝No... no you can't... ❞ Peter heaved a soft sigh, pausing for a moment, his eyes looking down at the street below from behind his lenses. ❝ Doing good things comes at a price, sometimes it's too heavy to bear even but that's what we spiders do. We got a great power and with it comes this great responsibility even if we might end up failing horribly several times. ❞ He didn't want to impose but that was the hard truth, something she'll have to learn eventually if she keeps following in his footsteps.
❝ But hey, look on the bright side.... At the end of the day, you'll atleast know you tried, you did the right thing and that's what matters... ❞ Years of experience taught him that, several losses hammered that idea into his head. Soft smile formed on his lips under the mask now as his gaze finally moved to meet her own again. ❝ Just never give up and you'll get the hang of it. ❞
@infiniitefrequency gets a thing for Hartley from Kara
"Okay-Mr.-I-went-abroad-for-forever-and-abandoned my-best-friend," Kara announced as she came up to the table Hartley had claimed at Jitters, carrying a giftbag. "You owe me multiple catch up sessions, but first!" She extended the giftbag out for him excitedly. "--I found this while thrifting and thought of you."
Penelope Morgan would receive the second prank of the day. Sterling wasn't sure if that would have fingers pointed at himself for pranking two close friends, but he hoped perhaps it lead people to believe that the prankster was targeting department heads to throw them off the scent for at least a little while. He'd decided on two pranks a day for three days, be them on specific people or the entire office. He hadn't quite narrowed down his list of targets yet.
Agent Morgan would arrive that day to find her office filled with ball pit balls. It seemed a fitting prank as she had done the same to his cubical for April Fool's Day back in 2013. A callback to simpler times. Her office was much larger than his little cubical had been but it didn't mean there wasn't at least a foot of balls to wade through. He'd even taped the bottom of her doorway so as she opened the door none would escape into the rest of the department. Just a little oasis of fun for her until she decided to clean it all up.
Happy Mercversary, Pen.

"Christ, you scared the hell out of me, you know that?!"
She doesn't mean to, but she's quick to do it before she can stop herself - her hands coming to his cheeks, lips placing a quick peck to his hairline; from the state he had came in, she had been worried just when he was going to wake up, so as soon as he did -
"How are you feeling?"

"so what happened after he climbed up the tower and rescued her?" - Mike
It was just a story, and yet the underlying tones of the theme seemed to fit quite nicely with their story. Signing a little she looked up at him with a soft but questioning expression as her brows furrowed together slightly. Wanting to ask him what he wanted to have happened but instead tried to come up with her own. "He... found that the princess had already found a way to rescue herself."
