am i a little disappointed that min-gi and ryan didn’t have a clearly romantic relationship? sure. does it make sense that they didn’t? absolutely.

none of the other seasons have been about romantic relationships. they didn’t give tulip even the possibility of a love interest, jesse and lake didn’t get together at the end, there were hints about simon and grace but the season wasn’t really about that (plus season 3’s ending kind of squashed any of those thoughts). the only real romance i can think of that we’ve seen in the show has been amelia and alrick, but we’re introduced to them after alrick has died and the focus on their relationship is more in regards to dealing with your personal grief and loss.

so it would be weird for season 4 to suddenly be about two people finding love. yes they were on the train to repair their relationship, but it ultimately did not matter what kind of relationship it was. and as much as i would love some lgbtq+ representation (especially mlm representation, which is needed in western animation), i’m fine with that.

4 is the weakest one writing wise but it also had the most potential, as evidenced by it inspiring me to write a currently technically ongoing but on indefinite hiatus longfic continuing on from the ending that ended up longer than the great Gatsby within the first month I started writing it
