The Scottish Honours (the crown jewels) were hidden under the floor of the Church for eight years until the Restoration of Charles II. Once every three months the Regalia were dug up at night by the minister and his wife to be aired before a fire and preserved from damp and injury. Wrapped in fresh cloths, they were buried again.
