I LOVE Yuu Watase's works- she's my favorite mangaka. It started with Fushigi Yuugi, then Ceres, and then Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden. The OP for Ceres is so sad, I just cry inside. I've read most of her works as well! Except for Arata- I read the first volume and I just couldn't get into it. What are your thoughts on Yuu Watase's Byakko Ibun? You think it's gonna turn into a series?
She’s my favorite mangaka too (: (like that wasn’t obvious). I actually got into Ceres first. I saw an ad for it in the back of a Ranma ½ volume and thought it sounded interesting. Ranma was one of the first manga I read actually. I’ve actually only heard the opening for Ceres a few times but can’t recall it. The videos I watched for it cut out the opening and ending for some reason. Arata is different compared to her other works art-wise and because, of course, it is a shounen. You don’t have to force yourself to like everything by a mangaka even if you love one of their works. I love Ao Haru Ride by Io Sakisaka and also enjoyed her work Strobe Edge but didn’t care for another work by her at all.
i thought Byakko Ibun was interesting. It was a one-shot chapter that wasn’t about Suzuno so I’m still having difficulty making an opinion on it. I’m pretty sure Watase wants to write the full story but who knows when that’ll happen. She’s been doing a lot of on and off hiatuses lately for reasons I don’t know, so I can’t really say when she’ll take interest in starting a new series.
