Inflatable Thwomps also return in Mario Party: The Top 100, this time with the modern Thwomp faces. Naturally, I instead opted to draw their 'retro' faces.

It’s May 4th, and you know what that means!

For as long as I can remember, May 4th has been a legendary, iconic date, celebrated by anyone and everyone with a shred of pop culture knowledge.

But why is that? Well, it’s all based on a bit of wordplay! Look at “May 4″. Does the term remind you of anything?

That’s right! All around the world, people unanimously agreed that the way the date was written immediately brought to mind “Ma(rio Part)y 4″! So every year, this date is celebrated to remind the world of one of the single most influential pieces of media ever created. And we’re no different, which is why today we’re talking about...

...the breakout star of the game! It’s Inflatable Thwomp! Just look at that texture. It seems so real! I just know EXACTLY what this would feel like. And smell like. Like gym class. That soft bouncy thing that we were supposed to run and then jump onto, that I’ve forgotten about until just now. So let’s see how real it looks in game! 

Surprise! It’s gelatin now! I guess the GameCube wasn’t powerful enough to render That Specific Texture, so they instead look gelatinous. And very slurpable. Mmm! Water flavor!

This minigame, The Great Deflate, reappeared in The Top 100, which existed! Remember that? They look slightly more real now. They no longer look like gelatin. Now they look like they’re FULL of gelatin!

Inflatable Thwomp remains in our hearts as a reminder of that fateful day when the roles were reversed. For once, we got to stomp the living daylights out of a Thwomp. How did it feel? I don’t know. I never played this minigame. I’m just an average everyday fan of Inflatable Thwomp! And we’re everywhere! Be careful!
