Alarming Waste Problem
Good day everyone!. I am Justine Ross C. Tobello, from national teachers college, and I am here to discuss one of the social problem here in our country. what is it? It is the “alarming” waste problem.
Yes you heard it right. Our countries waste problem is alarming now a days, for it can harm our environment by flood and pollution, waste problem can also affect our safety and health. As the population continuously increases, our countries waste generation also increased. According to Senate Economic Planning Office (SEPO) residential areas produce the most amount of solid wastes at 57 percent, while wastes from commercial establishments, institutional sources, and industrial or manufacturing sector accounted for 27 percent, 12 percent, and 4 percent of the total waste generated, as we can see....along the way or even in our rivers there are a lot of trash or waste here in the Philippines specially in Manila.
There are 3 reasons of having this alarming waste problem. First is an insufficient dumps or sanitary landfills, here in the Philippines our dumps and sanitary landfills is not enough to eliminate or lessen our waste, second is our poor segregation, waste segregation is a process where waste is separated into different elements like dry waste that includes wood and other related products and wet waste that typically refers to organic waste generated by eating establishments. Segregation is a simple way to help ourselves lessen the waste problem but were not doing it right and last is lack of discipline in people, some of the Filipinos or actually most of us are just throwing their trash everywhere, not thinking what their trash can caused. Right?. Solving this social problem is important for us and for our society. This protect us from becoming a breeding places of mosquito's, flies, mice, rats and other scavengers that also affect our human health, solving this waste problem also help us to conserve our countries natural beauty and resources. Our country is one of the beautiful country...so in this social problem we must remember the 4 P’s that is too PROMOTE CLEANLINESS, PREVENT ILLNESS, PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (OR TO DEVELOP OURSELVES), AND PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT. We can do all of this starting from us, from ourselves... participating in your barangay’s clean and green program or coastal clean up is also a big help. Let us save life and spread a healthy living.....that is all thank you!!!
