The deadline for issue #121 was Saturday. 8 or so people read the articles over the weekend and tonight met and sorted the articles to figure out which needed revisions (see below.)
At the end of the meeting we decided that the collection of articles is
pretty weak and so we would like to find A FEW really GOOD last minute
articles so long as they are turned in by Thursday night at 8 pm. Ask
your friends!!
Last minute articles that will be most helpful would be:
--TOPICAL / covering a future or current struggle or issue
--INSPIRATIONAL or analytical -- going beyond a list of problems and
complaints but rather sketching opportunities for struggle, organizing,
resistance, alternative ways of thinking, living or being
--well written, organized, focused, not extremely long, not just a rant,
not just a blow-by-blow of something that happened, coherent, not filler
or side dishes but main courses -- possible for front page
Following are possible TOPICS that we're currently missing that would make
the issue better.
--Rojava
--recent police killings
--Alex Nieto trial and protests
--"why are sports so emotionally engaging while resisting the system
that's killing us is ignored"
--radical stuff on campuses like campaigns re: sexual harassment and
divestment
--BLM update
--climate change resistance
--rise of racism / anti-immigrant / anti-Muslim and responses
--gentrification resistance aside from squatting (we have articles on
squatting)
--migrant crisis in Europe
Note: If you wrote an article and we're asking for a revision, the
revision is due by Thursday at 8 pm
