It pains me to admit this because I LOVED getting their travelling-the-world-together happy ending slide, but… I’m not sure how long Inge/Kai would last after the end of Avowed. I think they’re going to care deeply about each other for the rest of their lives! Relationship-wise, though… Inge is so devoted to/entangled with Sapadal and the Living Lands that it doesn’t leave a lot of room for anything else, as much as they do love Kai and their friends. They become a priest of Sapadal post-game, returning to their soul’s Tebaru Sanakis roots and feeling somewhat incomplete whenever they’re not actively communing with their god (even though Sapadal is technically always with them, they never want to leave the Living Lands again - they try so so hard for Kai’s sake and they do genuinely enjoy going on that world voyage with him, but they end up coming home early while he continues to travel). I feel like Wandering Hermit In The Woods/Desert/Volcanic Wasteland is the ultimate fate in store for them, and they don’t regret it one bit.

…I 100% thought Inge/Kai was going to be my one Pillars PC/NPC romance that got an unambiguously happy ending. Can’t resist that bittersweet flavour, I guess.

Just randomly shuffled over to “I Want Love” on Inge’s playlist and now I’m having a LOT of Inge/Kai feelings.

I love that Kai’s reaction the first time he saw Inge use the divine thorn was “Remind me not to spook you!” Yeah, out of universe it’s just one of the ambient lines he says after witnessing any stealth attack. But in universe, it’s characterisation!! With everything we know about him, it makes perfect sense that he’d take the Envoy revealing a strange and frightening new ability in his stride (or at least appear to do so). Meanwhile, Inge was bluescreening because they’ve spent so long seeing themself as the emperor’s precious living weapon and now this new guy is… making a JOKE about their power? Shrugging it off?? It doesn’t even seem to have changed the way he views/interacts with them??? What is happening.
