What should have been (Francis)
—♙— Last week, had to be one of the most distressing moments in Mary's life. Just when everything was falling into place, there had to be some even to make things even more complicated than they were already. When Olivia had returned to court, she had even taken the task upon herself to get her reacquainted back into the good graces of the French Court. But their relationship/friendship quickly turned to sour. It seamed that the only mission for Olivia was returning Francis's heart to her. And that she was now considered a threat to Olivia. This notion of always being on the defensive, always defending her honor and dignity was taking it's tole. Then she had also to worry about those who do her harm inside the walls of the Palace.
The changing of the seasons from Summer to Fall was starting to transpire and she just hopped that everything would turn out alright. Everything was riding on her marriage to Francis. Her life and her Kingdom as well as her passion to even care for the one she loved. Normally, Mary wasn't the bitter person. But, ever since Olivia's return to court and even having the nerve to be intimate with her betrothed. She didn't know if she would be sent over the edge of sanity just by her being in bed with the man who held the keys to her own beating heart. Today was the day that they would have one of the king's Annual Celebrations.
Just for a moment Mary had brought herself out from her own thoughts for a moment, she came out of the world of despair and back to the living world that was her cage. The cage she felt so trapped, so in need of a white knight to protect her from the dangers that threatened her until the time that the treaty between France and Scotland was set in stone. Then, and only then was the safety of her kingdom-and more importantly herself secure. And then that moment happened. She had kissed him. Actually kissed Bash. It would never live up to the passion that she and Francis shared. At least it was just that...A kiss. Then the most unworldly thing happened, after the event occured Mary had turned to leave and thanked Bash for consoling her on her woes about Francis and Olivia and what would transpire if something should reconstitute between the two of them. The thoughts had gone through her head like words on a page. She decided that the stale air of the castle was getting to be a little bit confining to her at the moment. As she dressed to go outdoors, she heard there was a gentle knock on the door and a man asking that her presence was required by the king. "What would this request be of? If I may inquire such a thing?"she asked as she turned her cloak over once again and put it back on the hook on the wall where it had laid only moments before. "The treaty between Scotland and France. Your grace. The king would like to provide you with such updates on the situation that we are now faced. " With this Mary was curious. Had the situation with Olivia progressed to a point to where she was going to be asked to leave the premises of the castle grounds. And in turn France as she was no longer welcomed in France as Francis has chose Olivia to be his bride instead of her and the treaty was null in void. Mary's eyes nodded, "Yes, alright. Lead the way..."She said as she let him guide her down the familiar cobblestone pathways of the castle to the throne room. As the oversize zealous doors were opened. She made her way inside and as she entered she noticed that the throne room was empty of all servants as well as members of the court. This conversation that was to transpire, could go either way. For good or for ill. Henry had been thinking about the news he had received from Scotland, not nearly a moment ago. A letter from Mary's mother that the treaty had and was acceptable to Scotland as the terms were provided. So that was it then...The treaty was set. He had called for Mary to be brought to him as to discuss the matter in person. So to was the idea was a better one, than to have the idea transpired through a messenger. As he had disclosed the letters contents to Mary he witnessed, which was for the first time in a very long while..A hint of a smile. As he was done telling the message as well as his decision on the matter he let her have the options of telling Francis the result of the meeting they had just closed for herself. She agreed and thought that would be best. Mary's heart jumped at the possibilities this had opened. She had been accepted by Henry as the next Queen of France. It was finally happening, they were getting married. If, she hopped that she would be able to portray the message in a way that Francis would be joyed to do so as well..Taking her leave from the area, Mary let her feet touch the cobblestone with a little expression as she was the happiest she had been in probably a fortnight. The open door stone windows that lined the courtyard she saw a single soul sitting on the bench thinking. Francis. Then the thoughts occurred to her. Was he still furious with her to be able to even accept the treaty that had been set forth to their two Kingdoms. The situation with Bash...She had told him it was just one kiss. He forgave her for her transgressions. But still...Inside she felt deeply distraught that she even allowed herself or to even admit that such an event had transpired. And with Olivia still within the castle lurking somewhere...That didn't make the situation any better. As she was only here to relay the good news onto Francis that the alliance between France and Scotland was finally finalized, they would now be able to truly begin preparations. If ..that was-if he still have her.
The brisk air of August brushed against her cheek as she walked forward towards the place where he sat. The wind was starting to increase in strength as well and she was trying to be quiet as if not to disturb the thoughts he might have been processing inside the recesses of his mind. As she laid a gentle foot to the ground she felt a twig snap and make a noise to disturb the peace that so filled the courtyard at the moment in time. She was a little startled herself and a small sigh had left her mouth.
She turned and started to go back inside when she hard her name called and she turned back around to look at Francis. "Do you have a free moment to spare for myself to converse to you about some thoughts on my mind? Or if there is something more pressing that is on your mind I can return at a later time?"she inquired as she just had a hopeful look on her face as well as someone wanting a peaceful resolution to their already complicated situation they had found themselves in. Or rather she had put them in.
Breakfast ll Catherine & Francis
{ ♕ } - "Good morning, Francis."
Ah, indeed it was a good morning.
There was an absence of a particular royal.
Still, there was no doubt that of all the castle inhabitants, she was taking it the best. One might have said that the queen was taking it rather well. That would be quite the understatement. No remorse or guilt was felt over the departure of the woman the male was originally supposed to be wed to. For starters, there was little to none available to be taken. Unfortunately, a death had been brought about. One of Mary's ladies had passed away due to a bloody head injury. No, really, it was bloody. At least, that was what the woman had been told. The scene of the incident had not been witnessed personally. By the time the news had made it around to her ears, everything had been cleaned up. Nostradamus had already started to prepare the lifeless body for its next stage. It really was an unnecessary death. Had Mary just opted out of the marriage at an earlier point in time, it would not have come to pass. Despite the unfortunate event, there was actually good to it. It had caused an awakening of sorts. At long last, the Queen of Scots had decided to take off and not take on the role of dutiful wife. It was what was best for all parties involved. Most of all, Francis still continued to live. That was exactly why Catherine was not in a displeasing mood. In fact, she was actually at her best at the moment.
Unfortunately, the mood that she was in was more than likely to be the complete opposite of that which her beloved son was in. The young man was probably still disheartened by the cancellation of what he had believed was going to be the best day of his life. He was also probably very much so confused. After all, it was not as if their love had been one sided. To the very end, both still showed obvious signs of the strong love that they felt for each other. Since he was still being left in the dark when it came to the prophecy, it was not likely that he would come up with any possible explanations. If he did manage to, there was no doubt that whatever he came up with would not be enough. He would not be satisfied by any of his assumptions. That was just something that he would have to live with though. Due to the consequences that would be faced if the truth were to be revealed, she could not allow herself to provide her offspring with any amount of clarity. While his life was most definitely important, so was her own and that of her trusted foreseer. No amount of pity for her son's lack of awareness would be permitted to bring them down. Life would have to proceed as it would have had Mary not entered their home. That was why she had decided to schedule this breakfast. Some mother son bonding time would surely get things back on course.

; { —- ♕ —- } Keep our distances... How could she keep her distance from someone that she loved so dearly? What had happened with Bash, it had been... just something. Mary couldn't bring herself to deem it as a mistake, but it hadn't been right nor she had been thinking straight, and she should've told Francis when she had the opportunity. Now, he was probably off with that Olivia girl rolling around in his bed or, who knows, hers. They had been caught once, what did another time matter? As she walked through the halls of the castle (in which the atmosphere was clearly tense and about to break), the Queen felt her eyes well up, a tear roll down her cheek, then quickly wiping it away. Nobody would see her cry. Her heart could be broken and make her whole body hurt, but nobody would see her cry. Her knees, however, had other plans. They had suddenly turned shaky and she quickly walked over to the window, letting the weight of her body rest against the wall, her forehead against the cold glass. Keep distance.
