Excerpt: His mind became ever more uneasy and Roger found himself crawling on all fours, believing the whole place may tilt and send him cascading into the void. He looked at his shadow and it had its own direction, separate from anything else. He felt sweat begin to grow on his skin, he could hear his own heart beating and he realized there was no sound but him. No distant cars, no hum of electricity, nothing to break the silence except his shuffling, his panicked breaths and the self destructive pace of his heart.

Camp Nano July 2018 Day 1

Happy Canada Day!

Here we go again. Camp Nano. Upped my goal a bit this time and switched stories to begin with. I am looking to finish my horror novella. Once it is complete(which will probably be between 5k and 10k) We will return to our regularly scheduled programming. (Pirates with a little steam power to taste)

Roger slowly peered from behind his hands to see the man was gone and the world was still grey. He smiled, having escaped whatever lurk behind the colour of the hat. Roger brushed himself off when he saw someone hailing a taxi down the road. The vehicle pulled to a stop and it’s aggressive yellow body nearly stopped Roger’s heart. “Yellow. Anything yellow.” He muttered to himself as he hurried in the other direction.

Camp Nano July 2018 Day 5

Almost didn’t get anything done thanks to a storm and it’s repeated power outages, luckily @sincerestaffect let me use her laptop.

Excerpt:

Roger stood, frozen, eyes wide with visions; he stared unblinking to his wife. “Annie,” he barely managed to say. “I saw something today.” He confessed.

She rushed over and wrapped her arms around Roger holding him tight, tighter than he ever thought the little woman could manage. “Oh no, was it that accident? It’s all anyone’s been talking about, I never even considered you might have been on the road and seen-I’m so sorry sweetie.”

Roger leaned into the embrace and nearly melted as he felt the soft fingers of his wife stroke his dirtied hair. He couldn’t tell her the truth. This was too nice, she couldn’t know he had gone mad. One more lie. For her, he convinced himself. To protect her. “Yeah, the accident was bad.”
