HE’S BEEN AT THE HOSPITAL FOR A WEEK NOW. after being diagnosed with a grade three brain tumor, he’d been admitted to get better care until his surgery. they wanted to keep an EYE ON HIM until then, in case his symptoms progressed. it wasn’t his first stay at the hospital, but it was definitely his longest && he was HATING it. luckily, they don’t make him wear an IV all day, so he’s wondering the halls of the children’s ward while his mother is away ---- now that he’s been admitted, mrs.harper has had to pick up an extra job to pay for the expenses, so he would be expecting to see her LESS AND LESS until he was free. he really missed her.
as he’s walking down the hallway, he stops when he sees a boy about his age near the refreshment area, where the staff stocked up snacks and juice for the patients during the night. he considers if he wants to speak to him or not --- decides he does, and hesitantly approaches with a worried S M I L E placed on his lips. it doesn’t take long for him to notice the cast on his arm. “ a-are . .. hmmm, what h-happened ?? ”
“Hey Eds?”
“Please stop calling me that.”
“How about no?”

“Eddie, your mom’s not going to die if you get home a little bit late! Just finish the fuckin movie!” Richie scowls, putting an arm across Eddie’s chest, holding him in place ( though the tiniest bit of resistance would have Richie moving away immediately ). “They haven’t even been chased by the pod people yet!”
"who did this?" bill to edmund!
Edmund pushed Bill’s hand away from his chin a little too aggressively. He hadn’t meant for it to be mean, he had more intended for it to look tough, like it didn’t hurt and he didn’t care about it. Which he didn’t. He tried to lighten the mood with a smile, but the cut in his lip just made it look grisly.
“ Three guesses, ” he chuckled, wiping away the blood with the back of his hand harshly. But suddenly he wished he had let Bill hold onto his face a little longer.
❛ WHAT, NO FRIENDS TODAY? ❜ she holds in a snicker, eyeing the vicinity for any of his other ragtag friends. ❛ they leave you all alone, stutterpants? so sad. ❜

OUTSIDE OF THE HANLON FAMILY FARM IN AN OCEAN OF GENTLY SWAYING GRASS ON A HOT JULY AFTERNOON SAT TWO UNLIKELY FRIENDS: one from a distant town, Hawkins, Indiana, the close cousin of Mike Hanlon, & a local boy, a frail and thin forced hypochondriac son of a single mother. Little could be taken from this pair at first glance, but there was a special bond between the two of them united by a history of great trauma, supernatural occurrences, and family friends. After the death of Mike’s parents, he and Lucas had grown rather close. They could only visit each other so often due to the distance between them and the lack of funds, but the few weeks of summer they spent together and biweekly phone-calls was enough to keep their relationship afloat - and when Lucas had heard of the strange phenomenon happening in Derry, Maine that seemed strikingly similar to that of Hawkins, he knew he couldn’t let it pass him by. He had to make sure his cousin and his distant friends were safe.
Of course, once he arrived he quickly realized the importance of his other party members back home, and while the situation appeared similar on the surface, the children of Derry were dealing with a very complex villain that could take the shape of their phobias and drain children of life. Lucas, the RANGER, tried to think of it as a new campaign, a fresh mystery to solve and a larger party to be apart of - but thus far it proved rather difficult to adjust.
So there he sat with the friend he had come to know so well in a field of hay, slowly cooking in the heat of summer and staring down the subtle changes in movement of a SCARECROW a short distance away. He had come to really enjoy Eddie’s company, but in this particular moment - he truly wished they were both ELSEWHERE.
“ ... Eddie... Did you see that?? “ he barely whispered, not taking his eyes off of the figure suspended on the pole like a life size raggedy doll crucifixion. “ ... I -... I think it’s... moving... “
