@inhcritance gets to watch some fireworks!

The key to finding a good spot in New York for fireworks when the city was setting them off, and there were several options for when they did, was to be high up in one's own apartment or workplace, or pay for it. If it was like it was back in his universe anyways and Peter hadn't seen enough difference between the two worlds overall to not think it was at least similar there. Some people set ones they'd bought on their own apartment rooftops as the middle ground, neighbors gathered together and celebrating that way, but a lot tended to watch the big shows. The ones that were impossible to see all of at once without getting far enough and high enough to stand a chance. He always tried to, and tended to even do pretty good, usually on a bridge or stuck to a building that was right by the water to be able to see it all. Not so much this year, "You know this almost feels like cheating compared to how I usually do this."

Peter looked over at Harry from where he was leaned against the balcony railing, grinning as it got darker. It was a way from crowds, and he knew Harry preferred it that way when there was a choice, and really it was a good view. Of the city, of where they fireworks were going to be set off, and gave them a bit more privacy, "You're couldn't just spoil me with getting to use a fancy coffee machine, you had to pick city views too?" he teased.

As soon as they entered the shop, Sioda saw fit to head straight up the stairs to the second floor as Nia spoke with the owner. Called on this time, and happy to take the item in question off the man's hands that he looked openly relieved to get rid of. A book that was not meant for the living to have, even if it wasn't among the most dangerous there were out there. She glanced at the stairs and thanked the wonder before heading up herself to collect her familiar. At first she assume that the cat would have been perched in the higher window to watch the street, or maybe sitting among the books on one of the shelves that had already gained his approval as a bed. The shoulder being eagerly bumped against for more attention was, admittedly, an expected third option.

"You know if you keep showing up in here, I'll start to think you're actually trying to learn magic." she offered to Harry, walking over and adding, "He ran straight for the stairs when we came in, you're spoiling him." in response, the king of cats only meowed didn't let up in his attempts to gain more affection. For his trouble, Nia reached over and scratched gently under his chin with her free hand, "Did you come here looking for something specific this time around or are you only browsing again?" she remembered his curiosity at some of the text other times she'd come to find him there, neither option felt impossible.

Special orders didn't always fall on a day that main delivers came in, the ones that were set to restock the bookshop side of things from the past two weeks of customers coming in. New releases, hot titles, popular titles that were common for school or fans of the classics, and a few that were there to help flush out the smaller collections when needed or requested. When there was enough interest shown to warrant the money being spent on the orders in the first place. It was the special orders that were a little more unpredictable, and tended to walk in through the front door along with the customers rather than to the side door where they were usually brought. That case was especially true when Ed was making the order.

Not all of them, a decent enough number were common enough to come in with the next order. Just someone who happened to want something they sold the last copy of sooner than they could get in for it. Other times it was something a little more specific, a little less mainstream. The ones that most readers weren't interested in, or even knew about, but a less than the average person and more occult. The serious kind. The kind that people assured themselves absolutely didn't exist or were works of Hollywood at best and the dramatic young adult at worst. Ones that horror movies would write about and librarians would have on the "reference only" list if they knew they even existed. Ones that let him have a necromancer's number in his phone to text an update that an order was in before tucking it away in the "specials" shelf in back.

Ed smelled the faint, lingering traces of dirt and bones as he finished ringing up the customer buying whatever the latest romantic fantasy blowing up was, before looking over at Harry next in line, "You're here earlier than I thought." he said, reaching over for the water bottle and opening it up. Solid colored, no one knew the contents were tinted pink, they just read off the various stickers he had stuck onto it. The newest one was a holographic bat hanging upside down that Winry insisted he have, "What's the occasion? That good a title or that slow a day?"

Being Sarenrae's champion comes with certain downsides, chiefly, the fact that Arawn has to travel, often leaving his children for months on end. He tries to take them with him as often as he can, its easier now that Rhiannon's a little older, but sometimes there are quests he wouldn't dare bring a child on.

Even if one of his children is a dragon.

He gets to his front door, a smile already spreading across his face. He's home. After these long, long months, he is home. He turns the key in the lock, feeling it catch in that familiar way, stuck for a split second right before it swung wide.

Rhia's at her music lessons. But Harry. Harry is here, sprawled out on the couch, reading a book. And oh, his son.

His son. Arawn loves him so much he thinks that he might burst.

"I'm home."

For not the first time since he'd moved back into the house, Peter briefly wondered just how he'd gotten away with coming and going as Spider-Man without being caught by his neighbors. Of course, at the moment, it was a bit more of a hazy impression of a thought as he clumsily mostly-fell through his bedroom window. It being the dead of night probably helped. Oooh. Bad choice of words, he thought to himself- unable to turn off the jokes even with the rather large gash in his side. Or maybe that was because of the rather large gash in his side. Either way, said gash really needed something done about it which meant getting up from where he'd fallen onto his bed and into the bathroom where he kept all of his first-aid supplies.

He'd webbed the wound up, of course- wouldn't do to be bleeding all over the city as he swung home. So maybe... maybe it could wait just a few moments? Surely? He felt a bit dizzy and his heart was racing but closing his eyes for just a bit seemed like the best idea possible at the moment. Yeah- yeah that's what he would do... Unconsciousness seemed like an amazing thing right now.

There was the matter of HOW she'd been brought here, much less if anyone else in their little CIRCLE had made the jump with her , but that could WAIT for the time-being .

As much as she was already seeing the PROSPECTS of turning all of this against any of their ENEMIES . What better ally than differing versions of THEMSELVES ?
