The problem with MRA is it seeks to criticize feminism instead of working activism to change men problems. Forcing feminism to address men problems is just more sexism. Feminism is about women. If men want their problems solved they need to do it. MRA is not a political movement with any real activism towards addressing their problems. That's the difference. Feminism has it's problems but at least it's a real movement.
This is very true. I don't know how long you've been following me, but you might remember a while ago I wrote about how I want to like the MRAs but they spend too much time vs the feminists, rather than the rights. However, 2 things - firstly, those are just the posts that get viral. A feminist reblogs them, shoots down the MRA, and everyone parades the little dead post around the town talking about how great and strong they are - but when they are actually faced with a good post they ignore it. I've seen viable, strong posts go around the MRAs that no famous feminists reblog. Because they don't want to see - they want to see MRAs tripping over their own feet and failing. Secondly, when men do turn in the right direction, they got shot down before the first step. Imagine the feminist movement and the state of society now, then imagine this male politician rising up and saying "I want to help men. I want to pay attention to male victims and help give them the support they need." It's a good point but all the feminists would cut him down on day one! "What about the women??" "90% of rape is committed by men!" "Men don't need help! You're a male chauvinistic pig who doesn't understand the state of your own oppression!!" He wouldn't make it through an election, forget being able to do anything. This has happened already - my friend, Daniel, has the link to the details, which I haven't seen all of. When he comes on later I will ask him so you can all see.We can't say the MRAs are doing it wrong then stop them when they do the "right" things. I just want the feminist movement to be a little self-aware, so they can see when a man is being a pig and when he has a good point, instea of always assuming the first. That way the next time a guy with the right idea steps up, we give him a chance.
