        How often had she sat before Eldrac, begging him to take her to Ahura,         or to bring him back to her? Too many times to count. The visits had become         less frequent as time wore on. It had been almost a year since the city was         new again, but still, at least once a fortnight, Medusa would sit there for hours         on end, praying to the old kings that Ahura was alive, and would return to her.

        She’d fallen asleep in the wee hours of the morning, on the cold tiles in front         of the great door. But a noise had woken her, stirring her from her sleep, and          when she rubbed the sleep from her eyes she could barely believe that he was         standing there.

       ‘ Ahura? ‘ Surely she must still be dreaming.
