One day, Keisuke is met with an enthusiastic Ryosuke after days of being in the library. Before keisuke could even utter a word, a book was shoved into his face. The only explanation that Keisuke received was, “get your coat.”
Alright, a bit of lore building but this is a bit of a victorian era Frankenstein AU. The Takahashi manor is once again, you guessed it, famous doctors. Ryosuke is on his way in finishing up his studies while Keisuke is under training to be an embalmer. Due to Keisuke’s failing in his studies, his parents allowed him to become an embalmer under their relatives teachings. This is also the reason why Ryosuke could properly restore Takumi, due to Keisuke’s knowledge in embalming.
Ryosuke mostly spends his time to educate Takumi to see what the human brain could do after it was reanimated. He even had him memorized passages and recited to him to see if it could also retain information. However, Takumi is not allowed to roam around the town since this could get the brothers locked up. If their little experiment got out, their parents were sure to throw them into the asylum (its somehow more comforting to think that its mental illness at play than someone’s will to bring the dead back to life.) Because of this, Ryosuke cannot spend most of his free time with his experiment since he must also keep up with his medical studies to keep suspicions low. Luckily for him, Keisuke is able to keep watch over Takumi during his absence.
This leads to Keisuke spending more time with Takumi. Since Keisuke is the one who is tending to Takumi’s stitches and keeping track of his body parts, they do form a bond. Keisuke has caught Takumi reacting differently depending on who is doing the check up. He couldn’t tell this to Ryosuke since he doesn’t want to believe it either. Keisuke just thought it’s probably a form of Stockholm syndrome and knows it’s best not to play along. He also blames himself since he has caught himself being too friendly with Takumi.
Takumi has a bit of amnesia just moments before he died. He can’t quite recall how he passed but he still has his memories. (Don’t worry, this isn’t one of those duckling type effects.) However, he do spend most of his days just moping on how he wishes to be dead again lol.
Idk, knowing everyone you love and care about all being gone just kind a does something to you. Also considering the fact that you can feel your body is decaying but you are still moving around. (Fun fact: Ryosuke had to use some pig skin on some parts of Takumi due to his flesh already rotting off)
I like to think the heartbreak of Kaori is the reason why Ryosuke is playing around with reanimating the dead. Maybe if Takumi turned out great, he might use the same practices for Kaori.
(spoiler alert, he couldn't get the body parts becuase of Rin)
It’s funny how this entire saga was from me just saying, “what if Takumi is the vampire this time?” I just wanted Takumi to overpower Keisuke and full honesty, Takumi do play the role of the monster in inid. Like he just comes out of nowhere, flips the status quo that makes everyone go, “aaah”. Like he even just drives off into the dark like a monster would. Big horror trope there sir.
IF you read this far into this, here is the parodied version of this comic as your reward. (Don’t comment about this in the tags. Keep it a surprise.)
also might i also add that a nsfw work of Frakenstein made me go into a writing spiral? I even planned this to be R18 but it went down a different path. sigh, i love halloween season. It gets my brain going for writing. Legit wrote out 3 scripts and thumbnailed two of them......
